Brandt would be the cheaper option IMO, but I really really really want Brooks in our squad.

Brooks did just sign a new deal though, running until 2022. Deal was signed in March, so either he is staying for at least another season or it was a contingency by Bournemouth to ensure they get fair value for him if he does move this summer.

Current Transfermarkt value is at £18 Million, but he will probably move for closer to £40 Million including add ons and bonuses.

The kid could become a world class player under Poch. If there's any luxury signing I really want us to make, its Brooks.

Thanks for this info. I find Spurs so draining I can't find the energy to keep up with other teams.

I'd be surprised if Doucoure isn't on any potential list.

Has all the attributes we would be looking for a dembele replacement, including PL experience. If the fanciful names that get banded around don't come to fruition then I could definitely see him being an option. Him and Sissoko in midfield would be a handful

I'd hope he's on a list too. Trouble is, if Poch persists with his 'this player or nothing' stance, I can't see Doucoure being of any interest unfortunately.

I've said this before, but I think it all boils down to what style of football and how we're going to set up next season. This in turn will influence the type of central midfielder that we may buy.

For instance, if we have our excellent attacking players firing on all cylinders and add a couple of dangerous full-backs into the mix, we can get away with having a couple of fairly solid, yet unspectacular, CMs sitting in front of the back four. Of course, this is applicable if we want to finish in the Top 4 next season, as opposed to aiming for a title shot. If that's the case, then we're going to have to sign a top-draw CM.

Currently we've got Dier, Winks , Sissoko, Wanyama and Skipp as our main options in this area. All offer something a bit different, although I wouldn't say any of them are world-class passers of the ball and certainly none of them are a real goal-scoring threat.

Personally, I'd like to see us go for a Sissoko MkII; an athletic player who is quite happy to burst forward with the ball, with power and aggression. Being able to hit the target once in a while, would also be nice.

Alternatively, we could try and find a Modric-like metronome; an outstanding passer who is brilliant at recycling possession of the ball. Not sure if there are too many of these players around tbh.

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see what Poch does this summer. I just hope we can find some players he wants!!

This is an important point I’ve been thinking about a lot recently. Although it doesn’t seem like the area in most obvious need of improvement, I actually think IF we spend big on one player with the (likely) incoming Eriksen fee, it’ll probably be on a top class forward with pace, who could potentially replace both Lamela and Llorente in the squad.

When you look back to when we were playing our best football, we had an incredibly solid base to our midfield that was there purely to allow our forward players and, importantly, our fullbacks to get forward and play. Look also toward Liverpool who are several games away from beating Man City to the title, who have played much of the season with a midfield base of Milner and Henderson.

Sissoko, although nowhere near Dembele’s class as a player, has arguably been just as effective in that transition role this season, and to boot is far more reliable over the course of a season. We also have Winks who is less physically dominant but can transition from defence to attack in a different way. Neither of these players are necessarily world class, but they can both be very effective at doing that job with the right players around them.

What we’ve actually missed this season is the lynch-pin to sit in next to them and slot back into defence. Dier and Wanyama have barely played all season and when they have, both have looked unfit and rusty. If we could get either of these fit and back on form I actually think we’d have a pretty good base to build from again. If Wanyama is genuinely looking unlikely to be the same again, then he needs replacing, but that signing needn’t necessarily break the bank.

I can see our business shaping up like the below (not necessarily the players but the positions of focus)

FW: Bale, Sancho, Pepe
AM: Grealish, Brandt
DM: Diawara, Berge
RB: AWB, Aarons

With Eriksen, Lamela, Aurier, and Wanyama making way. New forward would allow Son to cover Kane when he’s out without leaving a pace deficiency. In fact we could field a really dangerous looking front 3 of *new signing*, Son and Moura, with Dele tucked in behind that would be a nightmare for defenders. Something like the below would be dreamy without a massive net-spend.

———Sissoko Dier
———Winks Diawara

Bale———Dele———Son
Edwards—Grealish—Moura
—————Kane

Still lacking a world-class CM but if we improve at full-back as well I think we can definitely become a more effective team next year with a fairly modest net-spend...

Or of course we could just buy Grealish and Sessegnon, make a small profit and see what happens. Over to you DL ;)[/QUOTE]

Works fine for me. I think we might get one marquee signing and I have a feeling Levy will try to get Bale if Eriksen goes to RM. I'd also add Andersen to the list if Toby goes. I'd like us to get a more progressive LB as well. Grimaldo would be ideal.

I do agree with the attacking target likely being a dangerous wide forward, seemed to be the case last summer and I doubt that will change. Dele seems to be trying to adopt a more playmaker role these days, maybe in anticipation of Eriksen moving on. I also really like Winks and think he can become a top DLP if he can get on top of his injuries.

The new CM will need to have defensive qualities for sure, especially if we add a quality attacker. I'd like us to look at Doucoure, Rice and Ndidi in that role assuming Ndombele is out of reach. Tielemans and Gomes are looking more attractive these days but not sure if we could get away with one of them and Winks in a 4-2-3-1.

CB if Toby goes we just have to hope Davinson or Foyth step up, both have plenty of potential to do so. Davies and Dier can also chip in here. This is an area of concern for sure. I'd rather they could just patch things up with Toby.

I also think Levy will try and get Bale (or Isco) in any Eriksen deal, it would allow both sides to inflate or deflate the value of the deal as necessary for their egos. Plus it could help us avoid that 'you just made a huge sale' tax on other signings. He tried it in the past when we sold Bale but we are a much more attractive proposition now.

I don’t believe we were in for Maddison at all. He is a lightweight Eriksen mini me plus he has personality issues. Poch is generally wary of misfits although Aurier May have been an exception.

Where is this personality issue thing stemming from?

Am I the only person who really doesn't want Bale back?

He's amazing on his day but those days are puncuated by constant injury problems and mediocre performances

I'm not completely against it, but if we are going to spend £60+ million on a player I'd rather we spend that on the next big thing like Sancho, Pepe or Isco than to spunk it on a 30 year old. We don't need to trade player for player and that rarely happens anyway. If we have to trade players, give me Isco or Asencio instead.

Not that I don't think he could do the job for us, its just that with his age there can't be any return on our investment and we are a business as well as a football club so that matters too me. I wouldn't be upset if he did sign though, I'd probably fangirl about it for a few days too.

Mediocre performances? Not sure that's true.

The injury situation yes definately but I'm not gonna sit here and act like I'm gonna be upset if he came back.

Fully agree. Rather spend the money and wages on the next generation of talent wiser investment which would appeal to sponsors and can move on for decent profit and just reinvest again thereafter.

It's time to move on from Bale. He moved on at the time and we should too. Let's find the next Bale/Alli/Eriksen etc.

If we're indeed in for an ageing LWF type I can see it being Perisic more than I can Bale.

Again, I do not want Spurs to sign Perisic. Much rather Dan James, what I'm thinking will be an excellent player in the not too distant future.

Mostly the recent court case involving one of his friends. The behaviour described in that case was the norm for him when out and about in Norwich.

I don't particularly want Bale back but I can imagine Levy spotting a PR extravaganza. I also think we need someone other than Lloris and Llorente who's actually won something to do what Edgar Davids did for us years ago.

for what it's worth: the technical director of RC Genk was on a Belgian footy show yesterday and accepted that a few of their higher profile players will not be there next season. He pointed out that they managed to keep hold of Berge last summer, but reading between the lines, it's clear he's available if the right offer comes in.

Reckon we may still be very interested in this guy (only 21 years)...

With Genk’s hit rate for sending top talent into the top leagues, we should absolutely sign from them and Berge looks to be everything we need. Added bonus is he could play with any of our current midfielders quite comfortably as he’s so well rounded.

These are the kinds of signings I get excited for. Relatively unknown talent, not yet courted by the bigger fish and perfect piece of business for Levy. (Low fee and wages in relation to the current market.)

I don’t want him back.
I a firm believer in buying players on the way up not the way down.
He has a lot of injuries nowadays and I think he is a bit of a dick who would think he is too big for us honestly.
It’s not happening in a million years anyway for numerous reasons
