Not sure about this. I'm not particuarly familiar with MLS rules but I'm pretty sure that Vancouver got all of the money that Bayern paid for Alphonso Davies. The fee has been regularly talked about on Vancouver sports radio and I've never heard anybody say that the MLS gets the money - it's been all about what the Whitecaps should do with it.
As a home grown player they get the full amount. They only get a percentage of the fee for players that they don’t develop. They also aren’t allowed to spend it much of it on the first team squad. Most of the transfer fee can only be used to fund the academy and other things like that. MLS does have crazy rules.

going back in time a team that was promoted actually won the old 1st Division. We won Div2 then Div1 49/50 & 50/51, I think Ipswich did the same (not 100%), and Forest won it their 1st season in Div1 and the 2 seasons after won the European Cup. things changed the minute the Premier League settled

Looking back through the years it's clear that certain teams dominate for periods of time, who's to say in 10 or 20 years from now a different 4/5 teams won't do the same. Oil won't last forever

'We'll have the chaz and daves for toast'

Bless.

But, yes... I feel they'll be playing full strength with a point to prove.

Pochetinho will go all out to spoil this game from the kick off with similar rough, shit house tactics he did at their place with Spurs players running into ours then diving and claiming fouls that weren't committed from the referee. I hope there is competent refereeing at the Etihad and proper football wins the day.

Fucking hilarious.

On the whole they are pretty optimistic. Only one or so comment about us knocking them out of the Brexit. No one even saying it will be difficult. :cautious:

Would anyone really be surprised if they put more than 3 goals against us though? They are odds on to qualify despite us leading the tie.

Yes we are a threat and an away goal could be key but City rightly expect to beat everyone at home, and often win by more than a 1 goal margin, including against us.

You'd think there'd be more nervous fans for sure, but it's not a massive leap of faith. That said the last two games between the sides were very tight, hopefully we can do the same again. I can see us nicking a draw of scraping through 2-1 to be fair...

I'd love to see that thread if we do knock them out though. Hope the lads beat some respect into them over the next two games.

Not in the slightest.
Im fully expecting a walloping, as I was last week.
But stranger things have happened, and we don't even need to win...a draw will do.

You’re not wrong, Sparti - they’re a dangerous side. But maybe, just maybe, the football gods will smile down on us. Add that to a bit of grit, hard work and fearlessness and we may well emerge victorious.

COYS!

Any draw on the night will do in fact!

I assume you meant if we score and draw on aggregate (2-1, 3-2, etc...).

1-0 is a very dangerous score. Are they patient or do they come out gung-ho? They cannot let us score first. The longer it goes on the edgier their fans will become. I give us a 50/50 chance in this one and a 5-0 defeat on Saturday. Now we have an equivalent City forum laughing at this comment! You’re welcome Shiteh! :sneaky:
