Spending doesn't guarantee anything although I feel it's now the right time to spend. I would love to see Pochettinho promote our development players into the first team... Onomah Amos Edwards Skipp and KWP proved he is capable to be given more chances with his performance against Huddersfield (ok it was Huddersfield) people have mention AWB and others, KWP could be better than all those if given the chance to play.

Disagree. KWP looks too small and frail to me. AWB is the complete opposite, and that is one of the biggest reasons he's so much better imo

After two windows of inactivity the logical thing to do is strike early and enable Poch to work with the new recruits early in pre-season, but as you say in reality we'll probably do our usual faffing around until late in the window. Really hope I'm wrong though.

I think the ‘faffing around’ is a misconception. If we target top players they are going to be on the lists of elite clubs. In a lot of cases we have to wait until those clubs make it known that the target is no longer wanted by them. So unfortunately this means the ‘faffing around’ is not always our doing. Unless we are a true elite club where money is no object then it’s hard for us to close deals immediately.

Don’t you have any Argentinian gems for us ? Prices in Europe are crazy. Where is the next Aguero or even the next Foyth ?

There's nothing extraordinary right now. Palacios is the only one. Maybe Matias Vargas,. Pedro de la Vega if you want a wonderkid for the academy
But I feel the difference in style and pace between the leagues mean they will take too much time to adapt

I know this is the narrative we hear from ITKs but I can’t remember any instance where we end up getting one of these targets that the elite clubs are supposedly interested in and then don’t pursue, can you ?

Eriksen. Was supposed to be on his way to Dortmund(when they were clearly above us in the pecking order) and they bought Mikitariyan instead. Klopp actually spoke about it recently because he was in charge of Dortmund at the time. Once Dortmund we’re out of the picture we were able to tie up the deal.

Bale was wanted by United long before we got him but we acted quicker & more decisively (I know )

Sanchez was wanted by Barca but they wanted to play him at Barca B if I remember correctly.

Ladies and Gentlemen - Tottenham are a big club and we can draw top players. It just depend on the money.

Are you saying KWP won't make it at Spurs because of his height? or that his just not good enough!

Not exactly elite but ok and if I remember correctly we only went for Eriksen when we lost out on Willian so it didn’t appear he was our top pick throughout that window. Nevertheless I will concede it to you. That was back in 2013. My point is that the facts suggest that we don’t seem to gain anything by waiting because we aren’t picking up lots of players that we want and that the elite teams end up not buying. So I think us waiting to the end of the window is just bad management and as with much of what we hear from the ITKs that gets treated as gospel here it is just ex-post rationalisation by the club of our transfer failures.

I think it was rather that they wouldn't guarantee him much playing time. I doubt even Barca would spend £42 million on a then 20 years old to play him in the B team.
