Only until half time....trouble is Poch never, ever does first half substitutions unless there's an injury so if it's not working out he wouldnt introduce him early. Should we start with Son ? as they used to say in the old films "No, that's exactly what they expect us to do"....(y)
Need to box clever for this one.....that's for sure. We shall agree to differ....let's also hope your fears of losing prove to be unfounded my friend.

There is nothing wrong with being predictable in big games. Consistency is more important IMO which we've been lacking due to losing playing to injuries.

You reward your best players by letting them play in one of the biggest games this season who earned their spot in our best XI.

Lucas deserves to start as well as Llorente, IMO but the decision shouldn't be based on the Huddersfield game. There is a reason why we put out our B team for them.

I really think we need to score to get through. Playing for a 0-0 will end with a real tonking.

It would be a gamble, but might be worth swapping Verts and Davies and telling Verts to play as he did 2nd half of the first leg against Dortmund. City are weak wide when they lose the call and Verts could do some real damage. If it doesn’t work sub Rose on for Davies and switch Jan back to LCB.

Lloris
Sanchez Toby Davies
Trippier——-Winks——-Verts
Sissoko Dele Eriksen
Son

Lucas to come on. Trippier, Rose and Sissoko vital in transition with licence to roam.

That's how Liverpool beat them last year.

Liverpoool went all gung ho at them at home but I take your point. I just wish we had another goal to our lead... Whatever happens we cant concede in the first 10 or so minutes...

Lloris
Trippier Toby Jan Rose
Sissoko winks Eriksen
Dele Llorente Son

Lucas if dele is injured. Wanyama if winks is out.

I imagine we will be sitting back and try hitting them on the counter

No way would I start with Llorrente
Moura and Son is our best hope, their threat on the break will worry City.
Llorrente holds it up, but I can't see us having enough possession where we would need him.

Play with son and Lucas up top and defend deep and hit them on the break with pace

I’d go for our tallest and widest players , everybody on top of each other leaving no gaps standing with Hugo on the goal line,
clean sheet go through boom

Razor Ruddock would be a good choice for the wide player but not sure if he’s match fit.

Having eriksen on the right playing balls for Son, Moura, dele to run onto on the counter, lovely.

Lloris

Trips
Toby
Jan
Rose

Sissoko
Winks or wanyama
Foyth

Eriksen

Moura
Son

Gazza, Sanchez, Davies, kwp, winks/wanyama/dele, skipp, llorente

Don't think dele will be fit, at least to start. Hoping winks will be

Wouldn't play llorente in this match, let's counter them with pace. Don't fancy us but if we have scored in the 1st half it should be interesting.

Assuming dier, lamela and aurier remain unavailable

How do we approach this game ? Do we go all out Dortmund away and hope for a defensive masterclass ? Problem with this was we were quiet lucky that 1st half and don’t think City will miss the chances Dortmund missed. I think we need to go for it, grab a goal and hopefully that will deflate City and kill off the tie. Keep it tight for the 1st 20 minutes as they will come out the blocks, then nick a goal before half time.

Wanyama will not be able to play 2 full games in 4 days

If Winks and Dele are both out I’m not sure we would have many other options . I think if we went with Sissoko and Eriksen in CM we could be overrun. In fact even if Dele is ok to play it would be tough to put him in a defensive role with his injury. I guess Rose could play in front of Davies to protect at least 1 flank.

I'd like to see Llorente get a bit of time on the pitch. He's got so much experience of big occasions and with the right service I think he'd cause Otamendi and Laporte all sorts of problems.

Certain Poch thinks winks would play Wednesday otherwise he wouldn't have played wanyama for whole game
