I think it is uncalled for banning people - if youre going to ban one or two youll need to ban thousands... I do think something needs to be done but the problem is you cannot just have an area where people can stand because well... then by implication its a standing area and that isnt entirely allowed. So what is the solution?

Also away fans always stand, so what is the difference? Because we have no control and cant ban other teams fans?
You can refuse to sell tickets to the clubs whose fans persistently stand.

I might consider giving up my season ticket if my area becomes all sitting. At the very least I’ll try and look to move.

I suspect those banned are the ones who were fighting and arguing with stewards.

Let’s see what happens today. Early Saturday kick off against Huddersfield, the atmosphere isn’t going to be rocking. Tickets aren’t selling on the exchange for a start.

I doubt the club really care about this as much as many of you think they do, but the law is the law and they have to be seen as doing something or they could be in a whole world of trouble.

It's like the bouncers at a trance or d&b night, you think they care if half the people are off their tits on pills? No, it's expected and if they arent hurting anyone they generally dont care, but they need to be seen as 'zero tolerance' or they'll get shut down. So the two people who were banned are likely the equivalent of two numpties who were talking about their stash really loudly in the queue and then did a balloon right in front of the entrance and fell into the road.

I doubt anyone will get banned for just standing behind the goals. It's probably the people standing in front of kids in the family section or those who were giving the stewards loads of grief.

That's surprising. Tickets aren't available to non members though are they?

I'm sure in time the bottom of the South will always stand and those who don't want to will have a seat elsewhere. I'm perfectly happy sitting or standing although usually sit in the East. Today I'm at the top of the East so can stand if I want. There's no reason they shouldn't do safe standing though. They just can't really increase the capacity at least for some time. That's what would make it more dangerous, not the standing. The argument for the fans is more about not blocking fans behind than any safety concerns.

So the solution today from the fans seems to be keep singing "stand up if you hate Arsenal" and "stand up if you love Tottenham"

It says that research is misinformed ;-)

There is no law that requires fans to remain in their seats. The law requires stadiums to provide seats for all patrons - and prohibits stadiums from admitting any spectator who does not have an assigned seat.

And the secretary of state can refuse a licence to any club if there is persistent standing. Which is law.

Not at attempt to get anyone sitting in the away end. Intent on taking seat numbers in the south though

It's pointless banning Huddersfield fans from the stadium though. Who knows when they'll be back in the premier League.

What actually happened today? Did they kick people out, or just make them sit down?

Literally the same solution used everywhere else in the league including old White Hart Lane and Wembley. Let fans gravitate naturally towards forming standing and sitting areas with as little intervention as possible - it takes a couple of years at a new ground, but just let people relocate/swap their ST positions. So somebody in the South who didn't realise it was going to be mostly standing there will probably move to the North and vice-versa. Then market those areas which tend to stand as "singing" or "atmosphere" or whatever other euphemism sections. This is just a new ground teething problem because that culture hasn't developed yet and there's people who want to stand and sit mixed together in places. It'll sort itself out. And let's face it, there's persistent standing at every club in the league and nobody has action taken against them, it's a law everyone knows is on the way out at some point and doesn't much care about.

No season ticket purcase from me next season if i have to sit for the ehole game.
South stand-allow standing
Everywhere else- sit down.

Remaining seated at football is an atmosphere killer in my eyes. Jeez this isnt the old days where people used to sneak in by there thousands and drink on the stands and behave like animals.

No where allows standing in any stadium in the league.

I agree but i could not give a hoot! Some rules are silly in my view. And you will find that despite that rule that their are many stadiums in the uk that choose to overlook standing in certain parts of the ground and guess what? They just so happen to be where the most atmosphere is created. The famous kop, guess what? They stand and jump around no problem.

Look around the world and jot down your top 5-10 stadiums for atmosphere. You will find that all those listed stadiums are lenient towards standing and let fans stand. I want atmosphere and to have the right to stand if i choose. If that is lost then i will watch from the sofa.
