Might have been highlights from Porto, can't remember but opposition player picked up ball, Salah rushed in to win it and at last second decided just to leave it. Was thinking at time this is exactly what Arry needed to do, I wish he'd just pulled out last second realizing it wasn't worth it. Delph was facing his own goal in the middle of the park, was absolutely no need for it, even if he had won it the chances of us scoring from that position were minimal.

The trouble is, if you're going to fight for every ball (and HK is going to do that in a match like this), there's a chance it will happen. If he backs out of the challenge he'll get compared to Eriksen. With hindsight it's a no brainer but in the heat of the moment he gave 100% and I can't fault him for that. He just got unlucky. Gutted, but it's the type of player he is and a big part of what makes him so special.

Harry's obsessed with England, he'll play in the summer because he wants to, even though I like most others disagree with that.

At least he'll get some rest prior to those games, and I hope he doesn't rush back for those England matches. I want to see him rested and ready for the new season, where we'll finally have a proper home stadium, which could give us an extra 6-10 points next year. Add to that potential signings, and we could have a proper go at the PL title.

For me, he had almost two months off in January, is about to have another two months off and if he plays for England it'll be a couple of weeks with his nose to the grindstone which, lets face it, is hardly a shift at the coalface. He's had more rest this season than (at a guess) ever before so the need isn't as acute as it might have been.

But like you I hope it's a longer break and he doesn't get involved with England this summer if for no other reason that to put some recovery time into his ankle which might perhaps strengthen it a bit more, there's fit and there's fit. (I leave that to SC's physio fraternity :D).

If Kane is match fit and he wants to play then he plays, you think someone who is determined as him is just gonna accept sitting on the sidelines if he can physically play lol

Could the lack of timescale put on his return be anything to do with what I was saying about us taking charge of his rehab and maybe purposely overplaying it to avoid the England games. I certainly think it’s a possibility.

If you listen to most players they’ll tell you that rehab and recovery from injury is a lot harder than playing games and training. Probably the reason that the likes of Carrol and Wiltshire are never fit as they don’t want to put the work in to get playing ready. Yes he missed 2 months but it’s not like he had his feet up on the couch playing FIFA. Let’s give him some proper rest and get him ready for the first day of preseason.

Active recovery is far better than complete rest though. What an injury does is prevent players from more intense training. Kane is one of the hardest working players if not the hardest working player we have. He stays after training and does extra conditioning work and shooting drills. He's the same with recovering too which is why he always returns ahead of schedule. The injury will mean he's not doing as much work but his rehab will ensure he's at least keeping fit and active. If he's expected to be out for say 6 weeks he'll probably be back in 4. I expect he'll play for England.

Slightly concerning is that it's another ankle injury though.

I suspect he will be advised to undergo surgery and it's up to him / the club whether they do that. This is probably a key decision for the rest of his career. It's not normal that every time he takes that kind of hit on his ankle that his ligaments go. It's just going to keep happening unless they do something about it.

ok....believe me I am not delusional so not predicting this WILL happen. However, even though big odds against, but if we hold out against city next week and get into the CL semis...and then the team with likely Son up front continue to do something amazing and get past Juve/Ajax and get to the final...then Harry - just about half fit - is available for selection in the final...Poch will have one hell of a team selection dilemma on his hands. (and will likely divide brother against brother, friend against friend on here)

Just posting and bookmarking this...in case I can be awarded some kind of crystal ball(s) seer badge in the future :watching:

It's genuinely something I thought about whilst daydreaming at work and, if Harry isn't 100% fit, then I'd start him as a sub. However, I would want him to play, even if just 30 seconds so that he didn't end up doing a John Terry when we lift the trophy.

For not going all in to challenges at the half way line? Not really.

In a way this is the benefit of Eriksen not going all in, he's never having these kind of injuries.

Good job the rest of our players don’t ‘tackle’ the way Eriksen does we would be fighting relegation.

Most attacking players can't 'tackle' anyway which is why Lamela gets so many yellow cards. Better to stay on your feet and stress.

There is a (vast) middle ground between Kane and Eriksen when it comes to putting a foot in. I feel if they met in the middle they’d both be better for it.
