Cheers Val. I hope you are right.

I'm sure I read somewhere last night the swelling had gone down quicker than anticipated, which I took as a positive (even though the article suggested Kane himself feared the worst). If there was only very minor ligament damage then that kind of timescale of 2-3 weeks could work.

Imagine the boost it would give the lads going into the 2nd leg at City knowing Kane could be ready for the semis!

edit: Didn't Bale get an awful looking one in a Europa tie once (Basel?), only to be back in a couple of weeks?

As we have witnessed he is a very quick healer, just look back on his past exact same injuries. I only hope he learns that some tackles are not required....

The scan is happening today so no one will know the extent of the injury yet, not even Kane.

The rest is just speculation.

I’d be stunned if it’s anything less than 5-6 weeks.

I can't be arsed to look over the archives but I do wonder if the same people now saying "Stupid Kane, why does he put himself in that situation, he should've pulled out, needs to learn to manage himself" are the same people who are constantly moaning at Eriksen for doing exactly that.

Different positions and also I wouldn't really expect Eriksen to be throwing himself into tackles like that either.

Eriksen is in the team for his passing and creative ability and can put himself around pitch without flying into nutty tackles - leave that for likes of Dier or Sissoko.

I really feel like we should take a long term view and take him out for the rest of the season and the internationals. It can’t be good for his long term wellbeing to constantly be rushing back from injury. Send him on holiday with some rehab and bring him back for the 1st day of pre season so he’s got and raring to go for our first game of next season.

Yeah but you just know that he'll want to play for both spurs and England once he's fit, I don't think there's much we can do about that.

We control his rehab and physios so if we decide his rehab will take 3 months rather than 3 weeks then so be it.

If Kane is match fit and he wants to play then he plays, you think someone who is determined as him is just gonna accept sitting on the sidelines if he can physically play lol

What if it turns out actually it wasn't that bad of an injury and he's back and fine in two weeks. You still want him to sit out til next season?

If Llorrente + Son + Moura step up like they did at the beginning of the season, then ideally HK could be used more sparsly. Either as a super sub or playing less 90 minutes matches. It's a bit of a double edged sword though as if Kane is fit to play, well then you'd want him to play as much as possible. Especially if he needs go gain momentum after an injury. And even more so if we'd manage to go deeper in the CL.

It's a tough call.

The thing is that although he comes back quickly it always takes him quite a while to get back to anything like his best. I think the chances of having him back fit and firing this season are pretty remote.

Kane will be desperate to play. He'll want the 3 goals in the league to pass the 20 mark again. He'll want to play in the new stadium and he'll be bloody desperate to play in a CL semi if we get there. IF the ligament damage is minor then he has to come back in when ready. The most caution we can afford to show is starting him on the bench for the first game or two when he is back in full training.

Plus we need someone to bang in any dodgy VAR pens we get against Juve or Ajax :)

I know, that's not the point I was making. My point was that some of the same people who are criticising Kane for not pulling out of that tackle are the same ones who are constantly moaning in the match threads about how Eriksen always pulls out of 50/50s. I was just pointing out the irony is all.
