How was the experience in the stadium? I was there last year and did the tour and it's a fantastic stadium.

Yeah Bale needs to leave and I agree that I'd prefer to stick to the memories.

The Stadium is old and a bit brutalist
and they are about to spend 500 million refurbishing it
but the experience is wonderful and the football used to be excellent. Not recently

I was in the cheaper seats (55 euros) and dangerously high up
but the view of the pitch is like being in a helicopter suspended above the pitch.
Even with a large crowd (80,000) getting in and out is easy
with so many entrances and exits.
There are cheaper seats behind the goals (35 Euros)
but I like to be as close to the half way line as I can get
but some of those are in the clouds and you need oxygen masks.

The VIP facilities are wonderful and courtesy of my daughter Liz
who some of you have met at the Irish Rover
I have been in a sponsored box and plied with free food and drink
and a buffet at half time. You are treated like royalty.
These cost 475+ Euros if you pay for them yourself
by my lottery numbers have yet to come up.

Hoping to do the new stadium tour at Spurs
when I come over in the summer.
Have been reading and watching videos of it
and it looks out of this world.
The poor old Bernabeu will have to do for now.

Or giant Robocop’s weighing scales.

Either way, it looks bland and soulless. I love the character of the New Lane, and as much as I hate Chelsea, I liked their proposed new stadium. That Madrid design just looks like a big piece of everyday equipment.

But remember they are refurbishing an old stadium on its present site
and not starting from scratch which presents problems and difficulties.

Just catering for rebuilding whilst matches continue to be played there must constitute a logistical nightmare.

Bale did not look too happy being subbed just now.....I reckon he's gone from Real soon....winning 2-1 at home this afternoon so far

I think it's clear Bale isn't happy there but the question is where does he go? He's on such eye-watering wages I don't think he's going to have many options unless he's prepared to massively drop his salary demands. Especially when you consider he seems past his best anyway and has an injury record to rival Jack Wilshere, I'm not sure he's quite as desirable as some people would like to think.

BBC reports in their gossip column today...
Welsh forward Gareth Bale, 29, is not in Real Madrid's plans for next season and the Spanish side will allow him to choose his next club with Manchester United and Bayern Munich interested.
I just cannot imagine him wearing a Man Utd shirt.....he wouldn't....would he ??

If Manure pay him more than us, why not?

I guess because I find it difficult to imagine watching him playing / scoring against Spurs. It just doesn't sit well with me. I wish the guy well but hope he plays outside of the premiership.

He is supposed to earn north of 400K a week with RM. Even if he agrees to come down to 300K, only the two manc and chelscum in the PL can pay that. I'm not expecting he to come down to something Kaneish figure of around 200K, so we might as well be resigned to the notion that if he comes back to England, he'' be playing for one of our biggest rivals.

Once again we need to remember RM keep all his image rights so this can be offset against his wages. If he gets his image rights back presumably there will be room for considerable negotiation on his salary.

He's not the player he was
and any club doing due diligence
would balk at the fee and the wages
at his age (29)
He has missed almost 50% of games with injury
in the last 3 years.

Hang on to the memories.

Do you have a source for that particular stat/bit of info?

The guy said himself after the CL final that, apart from a few weeks at the start of last season, he was fully fit but just not selected.

So many people go on about his (so called) injury record, but listening to reports about his team-mates not liking his golfing etc, and managers preferring cliques rather than effort. Many of the games he's missed seem to be more down to in-club politics, rather than fitness out injury.

How can anyone dislike another person playing golf? Bizarre. Talk about a harmless past time. If he was into gambling or something morally questionable I'd get it. But golf?

What should he be doing? Posing in the mirror?

Bale just comes across as aloof, an outsider. Him not learning Spanish is a bit weird, you'd have thought that he would at least know basic Spanish but he even struggles with that, there was a video going around not so long ago when he was trying to communicate with his team mates and he was struggling with that.

His language tutor said that he's got a much better grasp of the language than he shows in his interviews. He just doesn't have the confidence to use it.

When he went there it was known he was a quiet person. The truth is lots of expats in Spain and elsewhere don't mix, learn the language or anything. Like many tourists they just go to 'British' pubs, eat chips with everything and hang around with their 'own kind'. Bale at least has had the courage to move away, very few British players have ever done this with any success, but being a quiet type is not a crime. To be honest I thought he was an unlikely person to be able to settle abroad so he has done well.

Anyway I can see him coming back to England as as preferred option. Good luck to him but even if we could afford his wages we need to go with younger players, find the next Bale

According to transfermarkt.co.uk, Bale has missed 33 games from calf injuries in all competitions since joining Madrid and also missed 17 games with an ankle injury last term.

The three-time Champions League winner has only played in 159 out of 248 competitive matches and 105 of 161 league games since joining Madrid.

Bit difficult to disentangle the figures but you are probably right
some of these are non selection rather than injuries.
Will check to see if I can find clearer figures

2014-15
Number of injuries: 2
Games played/missed: 46/12

2015-16
Number of injuries: 6
Games played/missed: 29/23

2016-17
Number of injuries: three
Games played/missed: 25/35

2017/18
Number of injuries: two
Games played/missed: 9/8

Missed 8 games through injury 201879 Rest non selection

All the above are listed as games missed through injury and recorded by Transfer Market

Yesterday evenings game....Leganes 1 Real Madrid 1
Wales international Gareth Bale was a late substitute, only had four touches in 12 minutes, and walked straight down the tunnel at the final whistle.

The writing is on the wall for Mr Bale.
