This is nothing more than to take White Hart Lane out of the lexicon. As someone who used to live a 2 minute walk from the station it feels a bit...icky. The football club is a major part of the local community but the community is more than just Spurs.
That ended well...'What’s in a name?
that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;'
Romeo and Juliet Act 11 Scene 11.
Hotspur, not Hotspurs.I'm not really invested in the question, but this is pure cynicism. Only for commercial reasons, you can't have the stadium be "New sponsored stadium name, home of Tottenham Hotspurs", and the closest train station be "Old stadium name".
What? That they've just reached agreement? How is this news again? It's been known for years now.
This is talk of the new stadium name. You don't know what the new name will be.Hotspur, not Hotspurs.
Yeah, that was always my preferred route - quite a walk but preferable to queuing for ages at WHL.Does anyone really care what a train station is called?
I haven't commuted into or out of WHL station since about the 2009 season anyway. I go to SS then walk as I come in from London Victoria.
Personally I prefer it to stay as WHL, because that's how I've always know it.
I'd save Tottenham Hotspur for any underground station should it ever be built.
I'd much rather have White Hart Lane. The stadium will be branded and named after some faceless Corporation whereas White Hart Lane was always part of the local community and culture. Seems like an attempt to remove it from the history books which is rather sad.
