What's new

Who do we want in the last 8 of the Champions League?

Mostly an annoying fixture just because I'd rather play a team outside of England. It's pretty much the sole reason I enjoy the champions league.

Unfortunately in the big games against the big teams, we get punished for our mistakes and we fail to punish theirs. Until we can flip the script and topsy-turvy that motherfucker, we will be nearly men

Yeah. They'll most likely highly motivated whilst we'll be buried under pressure, and their >10x investment will show.

When the difference in investment and experience is that great they should win 9 times out of time.

The existence of Man City and Chelsea makes football so miserable and uninteresting. Until they properly clamp down on them (and whoever the next financially doped club is) there'll continue to be a black hole of pointlessness in football. You can't win. Whatever we achieve, it'll only last until their next round of investment.

feeling strangely confident. ground will be rocking and we need to take advantage of that so get at them with dele, eriksen, son and kane, no 352 or diamond nonsense.

Yep. We’ll probably be able to pay higher wages with the new stadium (we’ve already started offering more lucrative contracts), but if we ever get too close a team like City can just raise their average wage bill until they’re out of reach again.

Everyone on here would have been moaning had we drawn Bayern in the round of 16.

Totally disagree. I for one would have enjoyed that one. That's what Europe's all about and we'd already played Dortmund loads of times recently.

Whilst the European teams are nice to get on this competition, with the Premier League being so competitive now if you want to go far you have to pretty much expect one of them to cross your path.

I'd prefer Ajax or Porto, but if there was a weaker team than them that was English I'd probably prefer them over those two also.

European nights are excellent and all of that but we've had our fair share over the last 3 years, seen the likes of Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Juventus, Barcelona, Dortmund numerous times the only big boys we haven't really pulled are PSG & Bayern Munich. The only gripe I've got is pulling the bookies favourites, what country they are from after a few years knocking about in this tournament doesn't really bother me, I've had my European fix, now I want to see progression through the rounds rather than exotic names we're up against.

Shame it's white hot City but for all of their riches still haven't made it past the QFs of the Champions League. It'll be interesting to see how they deal with the pressure of that

So, Man City it is.

Well at least we have drawn a team who, like us, don't have any CL winning experience. All the other six teams have won the CL or The Champions Cup. So in reality it's not a bad draw at all.

So as Pep has it's 50/50. WHL will be rocking.

Bring It On.

lads, I was thinking about the 91 semi final. l'arse top of the table (think they only lost once in the league that year), gazza just coming back from injury, doubts about whether our club would even be around in a year (money reasons).
felt sick throughout that game but we bloomin well beat them! brilliant, truly school boys own....
my point being, anything is possible now that we are heading home!

You remember the days where we panicked for our future so I assume you probably feel more pride than most when you see our progression since whereas others slander the club.

We've come along way since we were nearly no more. Not many have taken the strides we have when they've been in a a similar position and it's all been done with sensible financial runnings of the club.

Even Bournemouth are frauds financially. Swiss Rambler had their owner down as funding 93% of their clubs goings on based on revenue/ finances from 2008-2017. Even fairytale club Leicester are a con. I'm not sure what their owner financing was but is was a ludicrous number as well either in the 70%s or 80%s.

Not sustainable and it won't last forever

The crucial thing about this game could be pochettino approach. Lately we’ve tried to go toe to toe with city and it hasn’t worked. Although I will say their diminutive midfield really didn’t like Sissoko driving at them. But if Pochettino takes a more pragmatic approach like Dortmund it could be a very different game. Lesser teams have troubled city in the past by staying compact, given our extra quality up top, no question for me this should be our approach.

We beat them at our place abs then take a result to their place. Simples. Remember crouch's goal at their place? Time for Kane to step up
