Our aggregate league results vs City, since poch took over:

14/15 - 2-4
15/16 - 6-2
16/17 - 4-2 (Pep’s first season)
17/18 - 2-7
18/19 - 0-1 (so far)

So not entirely impossible...although we haven’t beaten them (or drawn) since they became shit hot last season & on current form for each side, I can’t see anything other than a massacre across the 3 games ?.

With that said, I think a lot depends on the first leg - crowd will be up for it regardless (unless city score an early goal)...get a result there and who knows what can happen.

“Unless?”

as with most champions league games it'll come down to mistakes as 9/10 they get capitalised on.

unfortunately i can't see us going 90 let alone 180 mins without making at least one major one. we just need to be perfect for one of the legs (presumably the home leg) and hope for the best. it worked for pool against city last year because they were under so much pressure after the first leg they couldn't play their normal game in the second.

I think we should forget it and aim for 3rd in PL to guarantee entry next year. Seeing as the rent boys got an easy EL draw they could win it and nick a spot!!

Can't blame City fans for being happy, they should fully expect to beat us over two legs. yes they'll expect a tough game, but it's certainly a tie they should be looking at winning from their perspective.

Unfortunately in the big games against the big teams, we get punished for our mistakes and we fail to punish theirs. Until we can flip the script and topsy-turvy that motherfucker, we will be nearly men

The positivity of the new stadium.... Well, the fact that it's almost a season late means its entirely fitting that the end of this season should turn to shit! Manchester City three times and the very real prospect of rejoining our spiritual home of Europa whilst the Goons step on us. Spursy conclusion.

That rule changed about 6 years ago.

Only way we could finish 4th and miss out is if United finish 5th and win the CL, and Chelsea or Arsenal finish 6th and win the Europa.

Not completely out of the realms of possibility, but it's unlikely.

It would be silly to complain about our opponent for the QF. We should be delighted to be in the CL QF. Last time we got this far we got Real Madrid and the difference in class was clear. However that doesn't prevent the joy of watching us challenge ourselves at this level. I'm going to enjoy CL regardless of the opponent. I also can't wait for the first CL game at the new stadium.

Yes City are favourites to get to the final. I have Barca as favourites and City next so that is the likely final for me. To be honest I don't mind going out to a top side like City. I think I would rather go out to them than Liverpool or Utd to be honest. However upsets are there to be made and we're capable on our day. I just hope we come through the internationals without injuries so we can close out the season in style with our full squad.
