Levy is only good at negotiating when he has a strong hand to play with. Having just 12 months left on his contract then all the power is with Madrid and Eriksen.

I agree, but RM will need to find space for Eriksen and maybe we could use that to our advantage.

There was a rumour a while back that James Rodriguez would be offered as part of a deal. That would obviously depend on whether he wanted to come here, but if he did I'd be fairly happy with that. There are obviuosly other players like Bale, Isco, Kovacic that we might be interested in. I think Real know that Levy will be extra tough to deal with if they want to push this through and a player exchange might work for both sides.

I don't believe James would be a good signing for us at all.

Also, at Real he’ll usually be one of many playmakers and teams won’t look to shut him down like they have been doing to him this year. It’s become pretty obvious to opposition managers that if they condense the middle of the park and deny him space, we don’t have the quality out wide to hurt teams this year.

That is all well and good, but Eriksen will need to learn how to pass 5 yards, keep the ball, otherwise he will be slaughtered. At the end of the day, in recent months he has gone missing for us big time, in just being able to play simple passes. I feel he has still sown quality in glimpses of matches, which is no surprise given his natural talent, but when it comes to the nitty gritty of a game, when we are trying to build possession, take control of the ball, keep the ball, build our play, he;s been a huge let down. He literally is breaking down attacks when he gets the ball.

I said last week it seems to me off the field stuff is affecting him, and now it's transpiring he wants to leave, it really is no surprise. He definitely hasn't been 100% focused. He's given a large part of his career to us, send him off with best wishes but on current form he isn't much of a loss.

On current form yes but that's all it is, on current form he isn't playing up to the level that he set himself but on form he's up there with the best.

Can't actually fathom why people want him dropped for 1) as if that's gonna sort our form out and 2) want Lamela into replace him when they're completely different players and it's not as if Lamela is in form himself?

Lamela does well centrally to be fair, his best moments always come centrally, he actually started centrally but was shifted out wide because when he was at Roma they still had Totti there who himself said that Lamela was the heir to his throne. I'd like to see Lamela used centrally more often, certainly if Eriksen isn't having a great game then bring Lamela on in that position. It's a very similar situation to Sissoko for me where he's been signed as something but would better suit elsewhere, I always felt Lamela was the ideal backup to Eriksen.

I admit to going slightly overboard with the Eriksen hate. I think Eriksen is an absolutely brilliant player if things are working in his favour, and for most of his time with us I have considered him the most important member of the squad. You're right that he will probably be great at Madrid, and he has often been crucial for us.

Eriksen's poor form is not all his fault, I assume its mainly down to lack of width, pace, technical shortcomings of other players, relentless fullback rotation, and so on. But it's almost like you think he is not a problem at all. His form HAS been poor. Can we agree that is a fact? Its not that he has actually been playing really well, but some of us just arent able to see it. He has been poor by his standards. Our success on the pitch in the past was built on our system of him linking play between Son, Kane, Alli, playing cute balls into dangerous areas, and spraying the ball out wide to our pacey fullbacks, which made our style very fluid and exciting. This no longer works. We need to change style to one that is no longer reliant on him, because he can no longer be relied apon.

I have to say I am very much less bothered about Eriksen leaving than I was. He's been really poor for months now bar the odd fancy goal or assist. I honestly cannot see him being a success at Madrid. If as a Spurs fan I sit there during games exasperated at how poor he is, god knows what Madrid fans will think. His lack of consistency will get shown up massively. He will just be a bit part player there

Get as much as we can and reinvest.

And when he doesn't play well more often than not we don't win - there lies his importance to us.

No point burying your head in the sand, Eriksen will be greatly missed for Tottenham.

Consistently one of our most creative players, sincerely doubt the Trippier fan club will see the sale they want if our other most creative player is off.

Have to spend big to replace that kind of quality.

Eriksen and Trippier sales are not intertwined and Trippier isn't more creative than Son, Dele or even Kane.

Yup he’s been in Spain for several weeks already. He’s been awful lately. Drop him and give Lamela a go. Can’t do any worse.

The big issue for me is losing a player with 2 good feet. Both Dele and Lamela have their merits but their one-footedness limits their game.

How in the name of fuck does selling your two most creative players in the same window make any sense?

I'm well aware KT is the whipping boy, but if Pochettino does that he's lost the fucking plot tbh.

Between the two of them they (pretty regularly) set up roughly a third of our chances.

I've noticed some people saying if Eriksen goes to RM we should ask for Kovacic. Can I just ask what people see in this guy? Has looked bang average at Chelsea, was pretty much on the bench for Croatia in the World Cup if i remember correctly and can't make it in the first 11 at RM. I remember in the summer transfer window, there was a thread and people were creaming themselves over him. Why? I must be missing something.

As as been said Eriksen plays well then we play well as a team . Well we have been pants for the last three out of four games .
Do I blame him for wanting to fulfil his childhood dream of course not but I do blame him for not trying a leg over the last month .
And if it offends some then tough I say drop him and put someone even a young player like Skipp and quite honestly I have been offended by his lack of commitment the quicker he clears off to fulfil his dream the better.
Alderwield has wanted out for the last year but has been nothing but professional and given 100% in every game he plays.
If people can't see the difference then I am lost.

Imagine thinking Kieran Trippier offers more creativity than Kane and Dele :LOL::LOL::LOL:

Stats don't need any imagination for chances created. It's quite clear and has been posted before, but sure choose to ignore it if it suits your narrative.
