Sounds like there'll be more outs than just Vorm, Alderweireld, Llorente, Janssen & Nkoudou. Personally I'm hoping the mainstays of the squad are Vertonghen, Foyth, Sanchez, Winks, Eriksen, Dele, Son & Kane. The others I'd be open to wheeling and dealing for if push comes to shove

Vertonghen might be a worry, losing Dembele and Toby, and he only has 1year left on his contract this summer

I see us holding onto Jan, even if that means losing him on a free when his contract expires. He'll be 33 by the time his current deal runs out with us. Whoever comes and goes, the only thing that matters this season is 6 more wins out of 8 league games. Do that and I think it'll be enough to get Champions League again next season

I find it really odd with what’s happened between Poch and Toby. I know it’s a case of ‘play your best players while they’re still here even though he’s crossed the main man and will be out ASAP’ but if Poch is willing to play him, then he must be talking with him on a daily basis because he’s not been frozen out. He must talk tactics with him etc. So the point I’m making is if Poch can forgive him by playing him, surely he can carry this on over the next few years if Toby did want to stay.

If he was completely frozen out and being ignored by Poch then I can understand. But that’s not the case so I don’t know why whatever they have now cant continue. If Toby’s crime was just going back last minute on an agreed deal, then it’s ****y but not the worst thing in the world. They don’t have to be best mates but I’ve seen Poch high five Toby after a match so it can’t be that bad between then. Even if it’s a case of showing everyone who’s boss, he’s played him regularly anyway so it’s confusing as to why there’s zero chance of him staying. Sheringham and Cole hater each other but played together for 4 years.

I trust JJ’s info, it’s just weird to think they can’t sort it out. Something a lot more serious than we think must’ve happened. Maybe Poch dissed Toby’s hairstyle.

Thanks to JJ for info.

So just as we're about to turn a corner, there;s a possibility of not making top 4, and a high chance that we won't be able to attract calibre of player required to push on. You couldn't make it up.

Typical Spurs, really.

Hold on, so Spurs have had CL for three seasons running and haven't managed to sign anyone at all of note, in fact posting our worst windows transfer wise for many a year, and now we are being told that THIS summer getting CL is key to enabling us to sign the players we are after. LOL.

Regardless of getting CL or not, Spurs aren't signing any top players or spending serious money, we've been here before too many times. Spurs will have an excuse for not signing anyone, if we don't get CL, it's because we don't get CL. If we do get CL, it'll be because agents/other clubs/Poch/Levy/Chirpy's fault.

This side will finally properly break up this summer with the exits of Eriksen and Toby, and the golden opportunity we had to win stuff will have passed us by.

I agree with the first half of what you said, disagree with he second half.

I think you're 100% right that we won't be doing a Liverpool and forking out extortionate amounts for players of pedigree. The only clubs that have done that that are Man United (and even they've been tighter with their money the last year or so) as well as Man City, Liverpool & Chelsea etc.

The owners of these 3 clubs have given personal loans, increased share investment in each respective club by £933m, £257m & £560m in the last 10 years. ENIC have invested £14m of their own money in the same period of time. The only way I see, with the vast amounts we owe in loans that we can do what the other clubs have is for ENIC to invest its own money into the club further which, if the last 10 years worth of figures is anything to go by, simply won't happen.

We owe £450m in loans, plus the interest on top of that so anything from £550m-£700m probably, depending on the duration it takes to pay off. If we pay that off over let's say the next 10 years each year we're looking at £55m-£70m to pay per season, equivalent to a club record signing with £20m on top etc.

The good news is that, an average ticket price of £50 in a 62,000 seater stadium across let's say 25 matches will generate c£77.5m per season, enough to pay off our yearly loans + interest. The negative is we do that over 10 years, that's 10 seasons worth of ticket sales we don't get any value out of (this doesn't include food & drink sales etc purely tickets at an average of £50 used speculatively)

Basically each season/ transfer window we should expect to be £55m-£70m down already, the equivalent of a mega star signing each summer. Expecting further £50m+ investments per player on top of that isn't realistic for the foreseeable.

I maybe wrong but after a decade of prudent dealings, I'd honestly be shocked if the club got flash with dough it hasn't got in huge supply, all whilst we need to ensure we pay back massive sums of money that isn't ours and grows at a very big rate due to interest agreements. CAPEX investment and the repayment of loans are our current big name signings, people need to put less pressure on the club for things it simply cannot do in large quantities or supplies at the moment, even if that means we don't have as much success on the pitch and other teams fans give us digs about it. It ain't about the end goal at the moment, it's about paying off as well as we can whilst hanging on in there on the field until we do see the ROI. Once that happens it'll be far easier to see how frugal we can be whilst operating within our organic means

Well, that’s the final nail in the coffin then. If he wanted to be here he’d of signed it anyway.

Unfortunately we will need to spend well or big to replace him and there’s no chance of that. But we’ve been through this a hundred times already.

I’d kill myself if we lose Jan. I love him too much. Best defender at the club since Ledley.

How can we take you serious yank. The last time you threatened to do something you didn’t. Can’t remember what the problem was, all I remember is you and a cliff.

Id add Vert to that list but I agree, im open to big changes.

Vertonghen is one of my all time players, I love him. But he is not going to be around for much longer.

Levy, if we are going to start a new phase, then stop fucking around and get on with it.

Is it ‘Spursy’ to get the only offshore, tax avoiding multi billionaire yacht loving owner who has no interest in spending any money on players :( (well Spursy and Arsenally)

The vast majority of owners do not put their own cash in beyond buying the club, and some, like the Glaziers, don’t even do it then.

To be honest at this point in time I’m more than ready for big changes, and don’t really mind who leaves as long as it’s not Poch, Dele, Kane or Son.

We clearly need a shake up. But we’ve heard all this before “so and so gazumped us” “what’s his name was gonna sign but his agent fucked us over” “we’ve got money to spend but we must get CL”

No notions about Eriksen, but Sanchez is now getting close to Alderweireld's standard.

And I expect Foyth next season to be about where Sanchez was last season.

We've had Alderweireld's best years. There are replacements already on board, plus the prospect of spending, as we did on Sanchez, when the opportunity to get value and youth is there.

I'll have what some of you're on mate. Sanchez reaching Toby's level? Absolutely no chance.

He's an excellent prospect but still very rash and occasionally error prone. Toby is the best CB we've had since King. To compare the two on ability is ridiculous. Potential? maybe. Current levels? Way off

If we start next season with Jan, Sanchez and Foyth as our CB choices, with Dier and Davies as alternatives, good luck with that... We need a top drawer replacement for Toby. Simple as. Especially to plan for the day Jan can't do it anymore
