Its pretty pointless to compare getting Bale for Eriksen until we know what midfielders we will sign.

Pretty sure that creates more problems then is solves.
How? Just ape Liverpool and play a deadly front three, resctructure the midfield with two behind Dele, and you’ve got a dangerous side. Or you could play Bale on the tip of a diamond behind Son and Kane.

Personally I would like to see us build from the back again. I’m sick of conceding soft goals out of nothing or from set pieces, we can create as many chances as we want but the goals we are conceding at the moment are pathetic.

Try and get a top draw centre half. De ligt is up there with the best in the world, for me he would be a sure thing, even if we paid a lot of money for him it wouldn’t be a risk. I’m not convinced by Sanchez yet and Dier doing a job there doesn’t fill me with confidence.

Obviously a new right back and depending on Rose a LB and a dominating CM. I would rather concentrate on those areas instead of trying to replace Eriksen with like for like or getting another option in the final third. We need to start dominating games again.

So you wouldn't try to adequately replace Eriksen?

Depending on how much was available. I wouldn’t say we absolutely have to get a like for like replacement. We can function in a different way. I want to see us being solid again, I want us to dominate midfield and to be able to sustain attacks and have longer periods of pressure. Maybe more penetration from full back area. There are other ways to go about it. Actually think it would be good to refresh the way we play. For me everything’s gone a bit stale the players seem like they are going through the motions. Personnel change will help but I think a tweak in how we play could be good

I was more on about the wage demands if anything, can't see Bale dropping big money and can't see us upping our wage budget yet again especially now.

Possibly, but there would have been no point Levy putting that buy-back clause in the deal if it was not something genuinely considered. Obviously very unlikely, I just wonder whether they’ll even look at it.

If Toby and Eriksen go then our best XI would probably be:-

Lloris

Trippier Sanchez Verts Rose

Sissoko Winks

Moura Dele Son

Kane

Based on that I think a direct Eriksen replacement isn't a priority but we would definitely need to upgrade a number of positions.

if I had money to risk, and was still a gambling man I would have a bet with anyone that if we never bought, or sold 1 of our defenders in the summer, we would concede at least 10 goals less next season, and with our forwards the same score at least 10 more (I know this won't happen because of Toby & Eriksen), but we will still concede less and score more, because our squad will be totally fresh.

5/7 of our defenders haven't had a real break since before a ball was kicked in the 2017/18 season, and played twice a week nearly every week since. the same for our main forwards, Kane, Alli, Son and Eriksen. with all the football and injuries, burnout/tiredness is at it's peak, and mistakes and lack of concentration has meant costly errors.

We simply can’t afford his wages, it’s as simple as that. Famously the tightest chairman in the league paying wages to one of the worlds highest paid players? It doesn’t add up.

Plus, I back him for a resurgence under Zidane.

It's incredible, people dream up these unrealistic scneraios then get upset when they don't play out.

Fellas, it's a wish list thread, let it go.

We wouldn't have these kinda convos in the ITK thread - unless there was actually ITK about it - so why does it matter?

Just a couple of idiots acting on their own.

I can't imagine he'd base a career decision on it, though the Zidane thing might be a factor.

£600k pw to 2022 though.

Even if someone stumps up £300k pw (leaving only Utd, City, Bayern, PSG, Juve) RM still have to pay him off £45m!
