No chance our team and squad should be finishing 5th or 6th. It ain’t good enough to win the league but to capitulate from the position we were in to finish outside of top 4 would be utterly pathetic. If he didn’t have a lot of great work in the bank it’s sackable.
Yes our investment is a joke but excusing what may occur this season is a cop out and makes Poch void of any criticism. The owners have let him down but finishing top 4 this season with players we have wasn’t some miracle.

i agree. our record against the sides around us has always been relatively similar, give or take.

but now we’re getting turned over by shite like Burnley and Southampton. i was worried about Pool and City away. but after today, Spam and Palace would worry me too.

notbplaying toby/son/serge today was Poch’s choice. and its decisions like that that he will pay for ultimately.

As far as our squad is concerned, I think we've largely gathered rotation quality players. Most of our players aren't bad and they do have a role to play in a club of our size and standard, but too few of them are good enough to contribute to elevating the club to trophy winning standards. We've had a long term, gradual mismanagement of a squad that at some point actually looked like it could go places. We have seen the hight of being a spurs fan for some time and it won't get better than this, barring the odd trophy at some point down to pure luck, not down to the club moving in the right direction.

If Poch went at the end of the season, how many of you would be considering jumping off the nearest cliff?

i wouldn’t be. but it would depend who replaced him. where we are right now, i don’t see as some sort of miracle.

only theoretical of course, but i bet there’s quite a few managers who could do what Poch has done this season with the players we’ve got.

New era: new stadium, complete squad overhaul, new manager.

How does that sound? Are you up for it?

What can Poch do with the team as it is?
What would Poch do with £200 million quid in his arse pocket.

I think Real Madrid would bite your hand off for him looking at the state they are in. Massive risk going there due to the rebuild needed and some of the most impatient fans and management in football.
No way would Real want him now. They've taken risks with the last two managers and paid for it. They're not going to take a manager who's never won a trophy. They will want someone who is a winner. Basically, Mourinho.
It does beg the question where he could go if he decides he's reached the end of the road at Spurs. Allegri is leaving Juve possibly so there might be a vacancy there....

The Norwegian who has just completely revitalised the Utd squad without bringing anyone new in ???
The team who will unbelievably be level with us on points if they beat Arsenal

Solskjaer? I just don't know what to say to this :D

Conte, Pellegrini, Mourinho, Benitez. all realistic for our level.

not saying i’d want any of them of course, but they’re all good managers. especially considering that this is the most talented squad we’ve had in years.

Yeah good luck any of them getting on with the chairman and getting money out of the club for a start, you didn't think about that did you, the biggest obstacle it seems for Spurs is not managing the players, it's managing the expectations and lack of investment and trying make a silk purse out of a sows ear, they'd all be gone within a year...also Pellegrini?? please.

I never said terrible, I said not good enough. We've issues at full back, central midfield, and one of our star players in Eriksen doesn't want to be here and we've no one competent to replace him.

Wanyama is too injury prone to get any rhythm, Rose can't play two games in a week, Lucas is still living off of his performance at Old Trafford in August, and the jury has always been out on Lamela.

The squad isn't *bad*, nor is it terrible, but it's not good enough. When you take into account the injuries to the likes of Wanyama and Rose that prevent them from playing consistently, and the sale of Dembele, it's worse than last year's.
Not good enough for WHAT?

The point Im making is the point you are making isn't exclusive to us but all squads in the premier league. Liverpool have no Striker, no RB(also worse off than 6 months ago) after losing clyne and resorted to playing Milner at RB. City have problems in their squad as well but less so imo

Teams below us at the moment have worse squads. Man Utd's defence is shocking, whilst up front their big fee players havent been performing like they are being paid to. Whilst their fullbacks aren't exactly the best.

There seems to be this mythical top 4 standard player on here that we dont perceive to have but yet the top teams are littered with players who aren't to that top 4 standard.

You go on the Red Cafe forum and you will hear complaints about Jones, Smalling and etc.

Just explain to me what he's done to get the squad fighting with us for fourth spot ?? No new signings that's for sure.

Well he's been in the job for 3 months for a start, it's a little to premature to suggest he's on par with one of the best managers in the league, also Solskjaer is very much a one club man who get's Man Utd and has the backing from everyone including SAF, I don't think he repeats what he's doing anywhere else tbh...let's give him at least a full season to see what he does.

actually i did take into account signings. which is why i (thought) i’d made it clear i was talking about with our current squad ie no signings.

Fair enough.. we'll return to this discussion after next season...unless they finish above us.....(y)

he's changing the team and formation too much, especially in defence, he needs to stick to the same team so we can get some consistency back ffs
