Criminally underrated
Jesus christ, just think about that for a second. Firstly that implies that people do not rate him or rate him well below his actual standard, which simply cannot be true when you have so many people waxing lyrical over him in this thread (that's not including other teams fans or commentators/pundits).
Secondly, I fail to see how running the furthest but putting in the fewest challenges benefits the team? If he runs 30 yards to put in a half-arsed challenge that the player with the ball simply glides past then that helps us in no way whatsoever. The reason people love what Lamela does is because the challenges he makes are tangible. The reason Sissoko is being praised so highly this season is not his skill on the ball but the tangible lung busting runs in the 90th minute that relieve the pressure on us.
Thirdly, Eriksen is rated very highly whether you believe he is underrated or not. What I will ask though is how often you see the players at Man City (such as De Bruyne) having games where they'll put 5 crosses, 3 free kicks and 4 corners into the first man? This is supposed to be his speciality ffs. Once again, the Hazard's and De Bruyne's of this world are a cut above Eriksen but even if you think I'm talking absolute nonsense then we can just look at the fact that Eriksen has not had a single bid in for him at his time at Spurs. If he ends up at RM I will come back into this thread and state I was wrong all along.
What I don't get is how we see Eriksen with all the ability in the world and people aren't calling him out more for the utter dross we get from set pieces or corners far too often? I can forgive Sissoko not scoring because he's clearly not in the team for that but when we have a free kick from 25 yards I now sit there praying Eriksen leaves it for Lamela or Trippier. One FK goal vs Juventus that Buffon should save in the last 3 years? Maybe one more that I'm forgetting about but it's simply not good enough, ESPECIALLY when I have to read here how underrated he is.
@dude573 If every player in the team pulled out of challenges like Eriksen did just to avoid injuries we wouldn't be a very successful team.
Also who else is surprised that Shadydan pops in with his usual passive aggressive bait every time a player (no matter who it is) that has once been criticised has a good game? It's fucking pathetic.
whoah, easy...
