I agree that this would probably be the biggest stumbling block in any swap deal, but if he wanted the opportunity to play regularly and feature as a key player and he was willing to be realistic on wage demands it is one of the few options that I would like to see if we had no choice but to let Eriksen go.
He would not consider us. We’re a downward step, and the likes of Barca, Real, United players don’t even give us a thought when they need a move. It’s the same with Isco and people like that. We’re not in the game at the moment. It might change one day, but not for a while.

first thought is that you are right and that it is a bit strange because PC would certainly go to PSG for example (bonkers wages is useful of course)....but it is also worth noting that for the right money the goon squad got Alexis and Ozil.
SO it shows that in a year, with Poch/ new stadium and this group of players, we could get close to buying a top player IF we can get close on wages.

All that being said, I'd rather spend our money (if we have any) on a Maddison or Brooks to replace CE and then use any remainder to snaffle Chillwell for eg

That’s the point - we don’t pay those wages and Levy wouldn’t countenance paying agents the sort of fees they get from the super clubs to grease the wheels.

Berbatov ; Sheringham ;Carrick; Modric ; Bale; Keane ; Cambell ; to name but a few they all wanted out and we are still here and struggling on . I say if anybody wants out get rid and get as much money as you can when they get to there new club and lets get someone in who wants to play for this club .I say we will survive and I also think we will thrive.
Erricsen very good player but not irreplaceable. We have been steadily getting better year after year and I believe withPoch and Levy we will get even better especially when in the new stadium .
My take is "you want out" then F..k off and let us get on with this project with people that want to be here.COYS

Always thought he was overhyped, great player but not to the standards people make him out to be.

Not consistent enough, he will have a exceptional game when the opponent gives him space but struggle when teams press. He has given away the ball so often lately also his delivery from free kicks/corners have been shocking, never beating the first man... Oh and he hasn't scored from a free kick for us in years.

People will disagree but he reminds me of Ozil.

Well, I've got to admire your balls.

Why the assumption that he's leaving?
Hasn't signed a new contract and hasn't expressed much interest in doing so, wants to play for RM and when we bought him he was running his contract out at Ajax so he could leave cheaply. I'm sure there is a chance he may stay, but considering his age, ability and desire to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world I can understand why he may think now is the time to move on. It would suck but I won't be amazed if he stays at this point.

Fair points. But as I've said many times, I don't believe RM want to sign him

It is an interesting one. Now is clearly the time for him to go to an elite club if he is ever going to do so.

The question is if an elite club will see him as a top target.

I read somewhere that there was only one club he said he would leave us for. RM apparently don't want him. If true, I think he'll sign a 5 year contract with us at the end of the season.

Goal and assist yesterday and this thread isn't bumped, what a surprise

He's just criminally underrated. Similarly to Alderweireld and Verthonghen. These guys play week in and week out and have been fundamental in Pochettino's Spurs. Meanwhile someone like Lamela can come on in the 80th minute and run around like a mad man and he's the dog's bollocks.

I'm not having a dig at Lamela by the way as I believe he definitely has a role to play in this Spurs team. But the amount of sh*t being talked about Eriksen in the match threads these past months is simply embarrassing. Here's a guy who's basically never subbed, hardly never injured, runs the furtherst in the whole team, been one our most consistent assist and goal scorers for several seasons. He's been immense for us and deserves some respect.

Rant over.

It's just lazy analysis given to players of his ilk by people who don't really understand much about football, I remember when Carrick used to get shit for not putting in tackles for example - Modric used to get shit for being too small, absolute nonsense.

People have a massive go at him for pulling out of challenges, but I suppose that is why he is rarely ever injured and I would rather the latter. God forbid if he were sidelined at a time when we were without Son, Alli and Kane.

Criminally underrated :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Jesus christ, just think about that for a second. Firstly that implies that people do not rate him or rate him well below his actual standard, which simply cannot be true when you have so many people waxing lyrical over him in this thread (that's not including other teams fans or commentators/pundits).

Secondly, I fail to see how running the furthest but putting in the fewest challenges benefits the team? If he runs 30 yards to put in a half-arsed challenge that the player with the ball simply glides past then that helps us in no way whatsoever. The reason people love what Lamela does is because the challenges he makes are tangible. The reason Sissoko is being praised so highly this season is not his skill on the ball but the tangible lung busting runs in the 90th minute that relieve the pressure on us.

Thirdly, Eriksen is rated very highly whether you believe he is underrated or not. What I will ask though is how often you see the players at Man City (such as De Bruyne) having games where they'll put 5 crosses, 3 free kicks and 4 corners into the first man? This is supposed to be his speciality ffs. Once again, the Hazard's and De Bruyne's of this world are a cut above Eriksen but even if you think I'm talking absolute nonsense then we can just look at the fact that Eriksen has not had a single bid in for him at his time at Spurs. If he ends up at RM I will come back into this thread and state I was wrong all along.

What I don't get is how we see Eriksen with all the ability in the world and people aren't calling him out more for the utter dross we get from set pieces or corners far too often? I can forgive Sissoko not scoring because he's clearly not in the team for that but when we have a free kick from 25 yards I now sit there praying Eriksen leaves it for Lamela or Trippier. One FK goal vs Juventus that Buffon should save in the last 3 years? Maybe one more that I'm forgetting about but it's simply not good enough, ESPECIALLY when I have to read here how underrated he is.

@dude573 If every player in the team pulled out of challenges like Eriksen did just to avoid injuries we wouldn't be a very successful team.

Also who else is surprised that Shadydan pops in with his usual passive aggressive bait every time a player (no matter who it is) that has once been criticised has a good game? It's fucking pathetic.

Ramsey's just signed a £400k a week Bosman with Juve. You just know Eriksen and his agent will be looking on, going...
