Why we don't sign the best young prospects, with the obvious exception of Deli Ali? Last year we were linked strongly to Madison and Brooks, and Werner in Germany, but hey we passed, waited for someone else to buy them, and now will cost 2-3 times the amount paid last year. Why don't we just bite the bullet on the younger players, and go for it? Jarrod Bowen will be the next one we will miss out on, will go next year for $15m, then we will be after him the year after for $50m
Been on this for a while now. From the outside looking in, our player recruitment strategy isn't completely clear. When Poch first arrived i thought the focus was on these types of up and coming players, similar to Dele and Dier and Foyth. But I'm not completely clear on if we have moved from that or it's simply a case of Poch not being enamored with the options being offered to him.
I think the key to our long term success is in following a somewhat similar model to Dortmund. They seem to be really good at identifying young talent, developing them, and then sell them at a huge profit. Which in turn gives them money to supplement the squad with two or three more experienced, high value players.

Can we please separate talk about existing/former signings, to save all the clutter. Cheers.

Attempting to look ahead, although it is way too early, I suppose we have enough players at Goalie, RB, and Forward.
We could probably with great effect add to CB, LB, CM/DM, AM. So that's four new signings needed. For spurs these days, it would be an easy fix, something we could have sorted over the next 40 transfer windows.

Why? It's a wish list and I wish we sign crouch and defoe

Apparently Bailey’s been having a bit of a difficult sophomore season this year, although he scored a lovely free kick last weekend. He does look like a ladyboy too.

Thankfully I'm going to resist saying anything about Lamela already having that spot covered :shifty:.

Seems like Coutinho is on his way out at Barca. Could we try and swap him for Eriksen ? (Assuming of course Eriksen isn’t signing a new contract)

IMO, in the early days, Levy wouldn't trust Poch with a large transfer budget after Redknapp and AVB, and quite rightly so. Dele was a master stroke but N'Jie and N'Koudou backfired so there was limited success in buying potential. There was also the stadium construction to contend with so funds were closely guarded. Levy now knows what Poch is capable of and they make a good team, so I can see Levy being much more likely to hand Poch larger sums of money if he feels that certain players will push us to a higher level. We need to get the stadium up and running first though.

Just watching Leverkusen vs Mainz. Havertz has just put his side 2-1 up with a calm, cool finish; running onto a cut back on the 18 yard box and placing it, first time, past the helpless GK.

The 19 year old oozes class, and if Eriksen is indeed off this Summer, he’d be a superb acquisition.

Supposedly Leverkusen don’t sell players to Bayern, so we could be in with half a shout of signing him if we try.

Fully on the Brandt/Havertz train. Cracking players

I like Brandt too. Carries the ball well and has lovely balance. Bailey is another cracking talent, although he’s had a much quieter second season at Leverkusen.

Havertz is not only the gem of Leverkusen, but of German football overall.

If we're selling Eriksen then surely Bailey/Brandt/Havertz are being looked at. Brilliant players and hard working too
