Doesn't surprise me that we're looking at a relatively cheap option, considering Dembele could be leaving and Wanyama's problems seem to be chronic.

We can't fight on four fronts with only Sissoko, Dier and Winks as our three CM options.

Agree.

Shame he would be cup tied for Champions League if we signed him though.

It really isn't though for a highly rated 23 year old international, considering the current state of the pound (it's roughly €20m, a couple of years ago it would have been €25m).

But when you consider we have £0 to spend, it’s too rich for our blood.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we see a cheaper option like him bought this month then go in for a bigger budget player in the summer after offloading the deadweights

"The Austria international is also thought to have a release clause in his contract, which has more than two-and-a-half years left to run, of just over £18m"

Nothing in the austrian press yet... all about Arnautovic or alpine skiing :cautious:

Not to be the buzzkill wizard but all Sky Sports reported is that he's of interest to us. Not that we actually plan to bid for him in any sort of timeframe. Also we've had this thread open since December 16th so we've already known that we were interested in him so there's not really anything "new" or "happening" to report on I think.

Won't do that IMO. One of Poch's bugbears is that the squad is clogged up with players who aren't up to standard and nobody wants to buy.

I must be getting old because I've literally never heard of any of these players we're being linked with. If it wasn't for Rabiot's name being in there, the threads in this forum would just look like an assortment of the weirdest made-up aliases on the planet. "Adrien Rabiot" is pushing it as it is.

Agree, but I think Poch has upped his standards with regards to that now so if he wants this guy then I’m all for it considering I don’t know much about him. He will help with the low numbers in CM at the very least.

We also have Amos out injured and Onomah out on loan so we have a lot to choose from or a lot to shift. We're just in a spot at the moment where we're ravaged by injuries in one department but I still can't imagine Poch pushing the panic button. I think it will be long term quality or nothing this window (in other words - nothing).
