There's a big difference between done and ready. It may have been ready for Liverpool if the safety systems weren't such a disaster, just not completed with the veil and outside work, etc. Once they announced the first delay they definitely decided they were going to take their time in completing the cosmetic stuff.
I think there is some truth to that - but, I have been surprised at how much interior work is still going on. Its one thing to have some cosmetic stuff unfinished, its another to have so much of the interior looking incomplete.

How ridiculous would it look if they announced Wembley for the rest of the season then in Mid March you stop seeing any work being done at the stadium bc it's done and it's sitting empty unused for 2 months?

Not to mention the fact that while it sits empty and unused it’s not generating a penny in revenue.

Even if it’s only open for the last 3 or 4 home games, that’s 3 or 4 home games without having to rent Wembley and 3 or 4 games where the ground starts generating income.

It only took one look at the West Ham builders video to see it was a million miles off. Kramer on twitter was posting pictures of the south stand looking like a building site in November. The club knew full well it wasn't 'ready/safe' for Liverpool.

I booked a work trip last week from Sunday 3rd Feb to Saturday 9th. The trip is probably not long enough to complete what is needed but you can see what I was trying to do?

I could have gone for longer after all but it can’t be changed now. This isn’t the first time and I’ll have the same issue for trips in March. The whole process is torture.

I think everyone is in acceptance of delays. It’s just the terrible communication.

Lots of opinions in here today.
Reading the official update and it says:-
"We are now liaising with the contractors and building control at Haringey Council to determine a schedule of commissioning, building test dates and building control sign-offs, along with formal test event dates."
Which sounds to me like the logistics of completion rather than saying we are still working to remedy problems, the time difficulties are arranging the combined tests and sign off between the contractors and the council so in my optimism I will hope the testing will be successful the sign offs will complete and plans can be made accordingly.
I have read a few people saying they know that no way will this be the case so I'd be interested to see the details of why they know that and what evidence they have to confirm it.

You would also hope that Spurs opt out of the US-based International Champions Cup that we have participated in the last two summers - and schedule more pre-season matches at the new stadium instead...
I'd be astonished. That tournament is worth about £15m to us I think just in appearance fees, plus massive commercial benefits. Not to mention withdrawing could jeapourdise our invitation to future tournaments. It'd make sense to play some home friendlies before and afterwards to help the team get used to it, but that'll be it.

Not as ridiculous as continually announcing the next few games are being played at Wembley, in mid March. Surely they can't still be announcing these games at Wembley come April. There must come a point where they would just announce Wembley for the rest of the season. Or do we move in with 4 games left of the season? can't believe that's gonna happen.

The club have missed a trick here by not branching out into a 'Stadium Update' line of merchandise. 'I came here for a stadium update and all I got was this lousy t-shirt'. An interactive 'make your own stadium announcement game', where YOU get to choose which club we'll now be playing at Wembley, which tests we've failed and the reasons why!

Is it just me or do people who predicted it wouldn't be ready seem to get a real kick out of letting people know? Congratulations for guessing it would run late. You're such a fucking expert!

I do get the impression that some of them really don't want it to open this season just so they can say I told you so.
So in conclusion, no you are not just you.

Like I said we might be able to reschedule them but the pitch will be an absolute nightmare. Checkatrade Trophy Final is end of March as well, the pitch won't hold up to all these games and events.

Could be wrong, but the same number of events, on similar timescale, were held at Wembley last season.
The issue isn't how the pitch will hold up with all those events, but the fact that the timing of all those events around our "home" fixtures is a bit of a fuck up.

Take it that's any slim transfer window hopes fucked?
Have to agree. It's totally speculative, but ever since the summer I've had a hunch that the uncertainty over the stadium is a big part of why we don't seem to have any money to spend. Every game that we have to play at Wembley is potentially costing the club millions of pounds in additional rental fees and lost ticket revenue, so we won't know what the possible cost overruns from the delay are until we've actually moved in.

It's hard to envision Levy spending ~40m+ on a new central midfielder when further costs associated with the stadium could still pile up, and there's no accounting for how much the total bill will be. Unfortunately I think we may be stuck in a state of paralysis until all of this is sorted.

Imagine taking season ticket payments in full last May, and then getting to refund them month-to-month like the club is on a payment plan.

Just out of interest is there a single person on here that would put their life savings on it being ready for ST sales 19/20 ?
