If he wanted to stay he should be in the media putting the right messages out. Looks more like he is playing to attract other clubs. Hope he can agree a new contract as we won't be able to replace his quality.

I respect him hugely for how he has performed this season in light of the contract issues and that he was left out of one or two key games this season etc

Really professional. Could have chucked his toys out of the pram like a number of other players out there but he hasnt. 100% performances and one of my players of the season

I have a sneaky feeling something will materialise and we will both agree a contract

Sky says he's happy to see out his extension. We need to give him a huge contract because in a year he can get a nice signing on fee plus a monster contract from someone else.

Yep and he's worth more to us here.

Good centrebacks are hard to find, even moreso Premier League hardened centrebacks. Pay up Daniel, please.

Well that's true, but Sanchez and Foyth are not mugs. Good players with Vert being the veteran. We are a well run club - I'm sure we will find others.

I suspect everything revolves around how we finish the season. Are we winners? Does Poch stay? Is the new stadium a success? Then will we give him a long enough contract on decent terms becomes more relevant. We need him to stay if we want serial success in the next few years.

I am pretty sure we have offered him a "Reasonable" contract. and i am also pretty sure his agent wants more and also might want to try to get him a move since he will most likely get a bigger pay day.

We also can't afford to "pay up" for one player, cause we will need to increase the rest of the teams' contracts.

but...... hopefully the stadium gets up and running and we can start bringing in more funds, and maybe we can afford to give another round of new contracts at the end of the season.

As much as I want to agree with you I can't see him staying for much longer. Hopefully I'm wrong and he stays.

IMO there will have to be very little interest in Toby for him to stay with us and I can't see that happening. He's a quality player and will get a whopping signing on fee for starters. If the rumours are correct that there's a good contract on the table for him to stay, it seems very odd that he's saying he's happy here without taking the deal.

Too late for that, the boats gone. Why would he stay on his old wages all that time if he was going to turn around and agree the same deal now?

IMHO he won't sign until his wage is equivalent of very close to that of VVD. This is where the whole problem arose. VVD on reported £180k and Toby reportedly offered £120k.
Would Daniel offer that sort of money to Toby at his age let alone a 3 or 4 year contract at that amount?
