I like that google translate calls Weigl the 'Passport Machine' :ROFLMAO:

Pass is also passport in German

It would be easier to translate as "passing machine" - passing is used in german in footballing context

Weigl stagnated a bit, just like Pulisic they had high hopes for him at Dortmund - but Witsel did very well for them, as did Sancho (blocking Pulisic)

He is a lively midfielder, good passing, good vision ... but not the type of player I would wish for if we could select a CM for our squad

He’ll do.

At this stage I’d take the fat captain from Tranmere tbh, just sign a sodding player.

He’d be fucking useful at the team’s summer barbecue- the fat fuck looks like he’s turned thousands of steaks over the years

Doesn’t look like he’s given many away, though...

Looked to me as if he had had a big pub lunch just before the game washed down by some local beer. How does a professional footballer get to look like that ?

You guys...word on the street...he's just big boned. :hungry:

If the price is right I'd take him. Needs time nursured back in form. Hot shit a couple of seasons ago. Been hit with a dislocated ankle injury and been out of the Dortmund team ever since.

I agree but PSG clearly have a chubby for De Jong and they already have Veratti whose only 26. I would wager Weigl would be their De Jong backup option.
Depends how much Tuchel has over transfers, given he worked with him at Dortmund.

Has the gaping hole in our central midfield escaped your attention so far?

Well there is no point signing a player who the manager doesn't rate or doesn't meet our needs. Just seems like people want a signing just like a kid wants a new toy.

Well no, we want a signing because our squad doesn't have enough strength in depth and because we're understandably concerned that if the chairman doesn't back the manager then we may lose him to Manchester United.

I feel at this stage I should point out that my suggestion to "take the fat captain from Tranmere" was, in fact, a joke. I suspect that may have escaped your eagle eye somehow.

The commentator genuinely said he toned up and started looking after himself...

Glad we’ve managed to take a conversation about a promising Dortmund midfielder and make it about some gargantuan League Two tredder who currently plays doorman for Tranmere :ROFLMAO:

Looks like a well rounded player!
Maybe this is unfair, but the recent track record of Bundesliga CMs in the EPL is not great. Xhaka. Max Meyer. Gundogan. Hojberg. (and those last two guys were Dortmund and Bayern trained, too). There isn’t enough pressure on the ball (as a general league-wide criticism), and teams simply do not press pivot midfielders with the same intensity. I think for me a common denominator for many of these guys is they look great when they have time and space to distribute up the field but they lack elite physicality and/or the ability to operate effectively in traffic.

Honestly haven’t seen Weigl play in a while. He’s been hurt and benched which are both less than fantastic omens. But gut instinct I wouldn’t feel great about him even just to spell Winksy for a few games. Would put more trust in a 17 year old Skipp at this point. And Skipp is free, untapped potential.

Good player but don't think we need him when we have Winks.

We need a powerful box to box midfielder.
