Didn't JJ laugh at the prospect of an Isco Eriksen swap? Can't see Modric or Bale coming back either. Going to make interesting watching regardless.

I'd say keep him.

The quality he brings to the team will not be easily replaced where we are at moment.

But in another 18 months hopefully we will have stepped up even more so will have more financial muscle and be even more appealing so able to both afford and attract a quality replacement.

If we keep him until the end of his contract, it might prompt RM/Barca to consider looking at other alternative MF options in the summer, if they are impatient to get in replacements for their aging midfielders. Eriksen might then reconsider about signing a new extension with us.

Not saying that this will be the likely scenario but as long as he is still under our books, there is hope.

I’m surprised Levy hasn’t given Eriksen an ultimatum this month regarding signing a new contract, selling him this month would be for a lot more than summer.

I’m really struggling to see us getting that much money for him compared to his actual worth, he’ll have less than a year left on contract, the buying clubs have all the power. Why would they bid 60-70m say when they can just bid 30-40m knowing we’re basically fucked.

If he doesn’t want to be here and he has no intention at all of signing new deal and there is a chance of a Eriksen/Isco swap deal plus a few extra quid for letting him go now then we should be tempted. Beyond Isco (even though he’s probably a pipe dream) I can’t think of anyone attainable, affordable or won’t make me want to smash my head through a window if Eriksen was to leave. Getting replacement in now so can bed in for next season isn’t worst thing albeit you’re losing someone damn special at key time of season.

Not anywhere near CE level but we should be looking at James Maddison or even Juan Mata for one season as his contract with united is up in the summer

Not the level we require. If we want to win anything this year we must keep Eriksen till end of season. We would even struggle to make Champs league if he went this month. You cannot bed in a new player to fill his role in January. He is central to our success this year.

Agreed but with the way the clubs spending has been unless your going out there and spending all of the eriksen money on a player your going struggle to get anyone near his quality

Fuck Madrid, they aren’t going to sell us Isco even if we sold them Eriksen.
I don't even think Madrid give a shit. If they're willing to sell him they're done with him. To me it's more I doubt Isco really has an interest in joining us UNLESS he's been knocking on the door of Bayern, ManU, Juve, etc and getting the cold shoulder.

Agreed. But my point is if we have to let him go it must be at the end of the season so that we can learn to play without him.

Not sure I believe any of the media about this. His agent played the same game before he signed his last contract with us. I’m not convinced he will sign a new one but I think there still mileage in this.

Would be heartbreaking to lose Eriksen and while there are comparisons with Liverpool’s sale of Coutinho, the two players are completely different in terms of ability.

I can see him being interested in being a part of a Real Madrid rebuild, who wouldn’t? He doesn’t strike me as a guy particularly motivated by big money.

I’d put him as our second most important player behind Kane, the difference when he is absent is like night and day.

Certain air of inevitability about this one. With one year left on his contract in the summer and Madrid looking at a squad rebuilding job, just feel it all points to him going there. Wouldn't be surprised to see both him and Hazard end up there. Eriksen's rep's have probably already been told by Madrid he is on their wanted list and they've got the ball rolling with regards to getting him the move

This is my biggest fear, Eriksen is so important to our game and a very likeable person. Even if the rumours of Isco is correct (which I highly doubt) that would be a huge huge loss.

Here's the thing, I think you could make by if you bought a badass right winger, a CM like Kovacic, Ndombele, SMS, etc. that can create from deep, and played Dele at the #10 that lineup could work. Basically compensating the loss of Eriksen by upgrading 2 positions that would add to the attack, but not convinced we will do that.
