This is in America though, they don't understand beer at all.

"Can I have a pint of something that doesn't taste like watered down piss, please, mate?"
"We've got Budweiser..."
"Are you fucking serious?"

Show me some id?
But I’m older than you, balding and hairy in my ears
Stay behind the line sir, your aggressive behaviour is not appreciated and I ask that you return to your vehicle before I’m forced to engage with local law enforcement

Is that the yank equivalent of drunk and disorderly?
Vaguely, but especially around airports or in the more conservative states they're happy to throw you in the cells for a night, take you to court and fine you for stuff we'd never bother with here.

To be fair in America you get a much bigger selection of "craft beers" nowadays than you do in most pubs in the UK. In the US even the shit local dive bars will tend to have 2-3 craft beers on tap and 10 or so in the fridge. Also even if you just want a cheap and chearful lager every bar will have some of the usual suspects like Stella, Heineken etc. so you don't have to drink Bud Light or whatever. Obviously there's plenty of shit beer as well but it's been decades since that was the only option.

Meanwhile, in the UK now I see absolutely loads of people drinking Bud LIght and it's in every supermarket, and plenty of people regularly drink Fosters/Carling etc. so we're by no means any more sophisticated at the end of the day. If anything I reckon importing Bud Light and buying it for an expensive price is worse than being in the US and drinking it cos it's the cheapest beer they've got.

what's the matter with these footballers. You've got one dumb ass millionaire eating gold and the other knob taking sleeping pills!

Just goes to prove that while money certainly helps, it ain't everything! Inner peace and contentment of the heart/soul are found elsewhere!

I'm curious - the excuses of "took sleeping tablets, had a drink on the plane" etc. seem fair enough, but are we sure this isn't just a case of an American TSA agent's first encounter with a Scouser?

"I'm sorry sir, I can't understand a word you're saying, could you just wait here please?"

I've never been to America, but my understanding is that the whole craft beer revolution started there and subsequently spread to the UK over the last 10 years or so. I know Brewdog was directly inspired by Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and I seem to recall Sierra Nevada, Goose Island and Brooklyn as being the main choices for new world style hoppy IPAs prior to the explosion of Brewdog.

Anyway I digress. Perhaps Wayne was smashed on one of these new world IPAs? I mean a lot of them are pretty strong!

You never heard of CAMRA (Formed 1971) obviously. Clearly history is in need of a major rewrite if america is the font of all beer knowledge.. England is the land of quality beer, because it requires quality water, which uniquely is filtered through our unique landscape. Other countries with noticeably similar geography do a good job like germany etc.You cant just show up somewhere and say i'm going to develop beer, unless you live in america. The land of all the gear and little idea. Where anything is good, to taste better than watered down budweiser for the american palate.

Anyway I digress. I speak a fairly english english , with no strong accent , and yet if i had a £1 for every american who said "I dont know what your speaking but it sure isnt english!!!" i'd be very rich. So wayne stands no chance with scouse.

Oh I forgot to say ever wondered why Pale Ale had the Indian bit added? It'll make an amusing education experience when you find out. And shockingly no it didnt happen in the last 10 years.

Qualifier: Joined CAMRA in the 80s , brewed my own with a mash tun,and have lived in the us too.

I have indeed heard of CAMRA. I don't think America is the font of all beer knowledge at all, just that (by my understanding) they pioneered the new world style IPA's as opposed to the old world style IPAs from England which were so called (I believe) because they used to be exported to India during the British Empire days. They were made particularly hoppy to survive the journey.

Just like they pioneered new world wine, and that in the 80s was pretty rank too. The clue is the marketing phrase "new world".
