The staggering costs of featuring as a match-day mascot for a number of clubs have been revealed, with the likes of West Ham and Leicester charging eye-watering sums of money for an afternoon of football.

Source: Daily Mail

We come in the 3rd most expensive

West Ham United - £700
Leicester City - £600
Tottenham Hotspur - £405

Honestly very dissappointed, should be a free draw with a number of slots given to sick or deprived children. We have got this wrong IMO.

When did they start charging? My Son was a mascot for Norwich away albeit around 6 or 7 years ago and I only had to pay for tickets. Think he was drawn out of a hat as a junior member. We met Harry Redknapp and went in to the changing room and got photos with every player and had a chat with them - brilliant experience. I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned round to see Sandro was stretching and using me as a balancing aid! ?

£400 is a lot of money, but the kid does get a full kit, shirt shorts and socks, they get a pair of nike boots nice ones too, plus a ticket for the parent/gaurdian, and signed photos of the lineups before the handshakes, so yes £400 is a lot, it was well worth it tho plus its kind of a once in a lifetime experiance.

Didn't know this. If true that's shocking, and pretty classless. Not a good look at all being in amongst those other clubs.

For some reason I thought this was what the mascots were charging the club (like the guys in the big animal suits). :D

It is at some clubs
Clubs that don't charge:
Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham, Huddersfield Town, Liverpool, Man City, Man United, Newcastle United, Southampton.

Very bad PR for the top clubs
that do charge I think.
But seem my informative thread

I can't help but read your posts like you've just run across from another building to tell everyone and are only able to get a few words out between deep breaths.

I guess thats all poetry is...

It looks a very cold, miserable experience to me.

I caught the start of a Spanish game (I think) recently.
In the tunnel, the kids were roaming about, laughing, and the players interacting with them as if they were family.
Maybe I've misunderstood and they were family, but I get the impression that in the med countries in particular, adults are very comfortable with other people's children to the extent of actually almost liking them, but here we are very uncomfortable,
And I guess if a player were to kneel down to a mascot's level in the prem, and straighten their shirt or retie a shoelace, or smile at them, then they'd be rightly labelled a paedo for the rest of their lives.

It just doesn't seem a very fun experience for anyone here, but maybe it is a bit warmer in the changing rooms when the parents are about.

May be worth it but by fuck it’s miserable of us, for kids their age it’s just putting money before everything, it makes the club around £70,000 a year (rough estimate).

I’m from NI and have just spoken to my neighbour who’s kid was *chosen* by United last season. I knew they went over but I just asked him what the deal was with the club. The kid got the kit and all the same shit plus tickets for him and his parents and they even threw in the cost of the flights, had a great day by all accounts.
