So basically Jones has failed another drugs test? State of Nevada won't give the license for the fight, and Dana White, instead of suspending Jones, just moves the fight to LA.
Farcical...

When you’re one of his favourites, he gives you every advantage. Look at what he has done with the Irishman.

Yeah pretty much. They might as well just stop testing people and give up on trying pretend it's a legitimate sport.

...er, sorry my friend, I'm not sure what you're referring to. Maybe I'm being particularly thick today but could you enlighten me?

.

Sorry to respond to my own question, but I just heard that Jones has been 'at it' again? Fucking hell man get a grip of yourself. Not even sure if I can bear to watch it but I hope Gustafsson beats him to a pulp.

The best thing would be to just even it up. Let Jones take PEDs and give Gustafsson a crowbar.

A lot of people are going to be screwed over. All those flying from sweden and other parts, all flights and hotels are probably non refundable.

Plus the hassle of rebooking tickets especially when bots will harvest all the tickets, when they come on sale today, and then find them on 2nd hand websites for double the price. The ufc really botched this one. No consideration for any fans making the long trips and who saved so much money to go.

I really don't want to watch the fight but I probably will, as right now, I have no idea if I'll be able to watch any more UFC next year on BT Sport, so this could be the last one.

Having said that, I heard BT Sport were saying a week or so ago, that they'd be broadcasting UFC for another season, so fuck knows what's happening. I thought Eleven Sports had won the rights to broadcast it from January.

I’d heard a while back the Eleven Sport thing wasn’t happening. I’d suggest looks like BT Sport is retaining then for the next year or two.

As for the Jones stuff. UFC has slowly degraded in terms of product and decision making ever since the WME deal.

"Over-The-Top (OTT) sports broadcaster Eleven Sports’ foray into the U.K. market could be a brief but eventful one.

The Daily Telegraph says the company’s U.K. service, has attracted just 50,000 subscribers since it launched in the summer after wresting the rights to Spanish and Italian top-flight soccer from Sky and BT Sport.

The situation has been exacerbated by the fact that Eleven Sports has failed to secure a carriage deal with Sky, Virgin Media or BT. This has limited awareness of the service and has also failed to attract those not used or comfortable with the idea of streaming"

They gave the UFC back to BT. Noy sure where serie a and la liga will go.

I think every one has known it's been a huge issue. This to me is so blatant and ridiculous even people that don't follow it closely must know what's up.

It just makes the whole thing look so fucking amateur. I used to think mma was on this upward trajectory I'm not so sure any more.

How can they come back from this. Is what ever money they make from the jones vs gus fight really worth this? It's bizarre.

Wow. Please God may that be true (not saying I don't believe you, but I'm in a state of delighted shock...)

OK, so none of us agrees with the UFC for the way they've handled the Jones v Gustafsson fight, but let's not forget they do put on some magnificent fights at different weight classes, so overall, maybe I can forgive them the occasional screw-up.

Fingers crossed, they'll give up on La Liga too and give it back to BT Sport. I really do miss that.

Many thanks for the update!

I actually dont have an issue with the way the UFC have handled the Jones vs Gustafsson fight?
The test results have been explained by the UFC and USADA have agreed it was due to the last failed test substance.
After listening to the Joe Rogan podcast it was explained excellently and in depth.

If you choose to believe the story that Rogan and Nowinsky put forward. I’m a fan of Rogan, but it needs to be remembered that he is a UFC employee and has displayed tendencies to toe the UFC line and put forward stories on their behalf, in multiple occasions in the past.

He often takes stances to pander to whoever is on his show, only to do a complete 180 on them when someone else is on who disagrees with the previous stance.

I’ve listened to the podcast in question and it’s not that I necessarily disagree or entirely refute what they are saying. However, the idea of pulses and the explanation put forth in order to clear Jones seems to entirely eminate from the one study in 2015. Other experts involved have sketchy pasts.

USADA has not done a good job of showing consistency with their suspensions they have given out, nor that they are beyond feeling pressure from the UFC via back channels, IMO.

Jones has obviously popped for substances on multiple occasions and unlike some other fighters, on no occasions was he able to source and prove where the substance came from by handing over tainted produce eg dick pills.

Aside from all the possible wrongs and rights over Jones and his issues, I mostly take exception to the UFCs attitude on a lot of issues surrounding them in recent. Mainly Dana White, the treatment of mid to lower card fighters, the whole business model and % of profits that trickle down to fighters, the match making etc etc, I could go on and on.

BT Sport is delighted to confirm that it will remain the exclusive home of UFC in the UK and Republic of Ireland into 2019 and beyond after agreeing a new multi-year broadcast rights deal. The contract, which begins in January, means all live UFC numbered and Fight Night events will continue to be shown on BT Sport on TV and our two digital platforms - BTSport.com and the award-winning BT Sport app.

No offense mate but just take a step back and actually consider what they are trying to make you believe. None of it adds up.

Have you ever ever heard the expression "it's not the crime, but the cover up"? That is how the ufc have completely lost me now. If jones had just failed and got another ban I would be different. They obviously just decided to milk him for every they can before he gets over the hill.

I think it's ridiculously short sighted because they must have lost so many fans not just me.

The whole thing is a joke. He popped multiple times in the last few months BEFORE the UFC and USADA changed their policy to not releasing news of positive tests. Effectively, USADA and the UFC covered these results up, with them only coming to light this week in the JRE.

I wonder how Gustafsson would have reacted to the prospect of fighting Jones if he was furnished with the full information, instead of having it all dumped on him the week of the fight.

Ariel has also released the list of so called experts that Dana keeps referring to, including such luminaries as the deeply corrupt Daniel Eichner. All stemming from ONE speculative research paper in 2015. And btw this paper states that the long term picograms should only stay in the body for 40-50 days. So you have the only paper that at all backs up or gets used to explain all of this and it doesn’t even do that. We are now into around 400+ days since Jones initially popped for Turinabol and even at that point the inference was that it was a trace from a good time before !!

USADA also with technical errors just like they had with Lesnar.

And after spinning a yarn that the California State Athletic Commission granted Jones his license to fight after acknowledging and understanding that the recent results did not indicate deliberate use or an advantage for him, Nowitsky is now on record as of a day ago as saying that they gave him his licence for this fight whilst being completely unaware of all his failed tests !!

Listen, I’ve loved MMA/UFC going all the way back to the early 2000s and I’m a big fan of Jones’ skills, but this is just taking the utter piss.

Jones had a smart game plan, stayed out of range and used the jab and kicks. Gus had nothing for him in this fight, which surprised me.

Nunes destroyed cyborg. I knew that would be a fire fight.
