If we had at least let him participate in training we may have had a shot at selling him to one of those teams. I realize he's injured but not even giving him a squad number certainly doesn't help our negotiating position.

He was taking part in training so I don't see how it makes a difference. Whether he had a squad number or not I think everyone was aware that he wasn't in the managers plans.

Come January, we’ll get sound bites from the club about how Janssen is banging them in during training and will be like a new signing

We could take clips of his training sessions, make it into a “Welcome to Liverpool Vid”, post it on RAWK, then sit back and watch the fun.

We have experience with 3 Ajax CBs in recent history and they have all been class so using that as a warning against de Ligt is very suspect, that should be used as a reason to buy not avoid the player. Certain playing styles and systems can suit some players and without them they're far worse, some players can do well in almost any team. Maybe he was in a purple patch, maybe the league isn't good for judging attackers (very spotty history with eredivisie attackers all over the prem), maybe off field issues are the problem, maybe it's mental etc.

If you're sidelined and told you're not in the manager's plans, I would imagine that is a pretty powerful demotivator. I'm eating kebabs now as well because I can empathize.

Rumours here in Scotland are that he’s off to Celtic. Apparently attended the Celtic Motherwell game last week.

He's only 24. Surely he would be better off going back to Holland? If he does well back there then he might add to his international caps and get another chance at a bigger league. I can't see either of those opportunities being available to him in Scotland.

I don’t care where he goes to be honest, but we need to get him off our books asap.

Sounds harsh I know, but I’m sure he’ll be ok.

If my memory serves, he was a popular guy in Holland and at this stage I can't imagine the hit in wages will be as much of a deterrent as it might be. It's one of the problems with buying from the Dutch league, the overal average quality there has really slumped over the years meaning that there's a noticeable gap between being great there and being able to replicate that in a more intense league, like the Prem or Bundesliga.

But I suppose players chase the money, here, Spain and Germany are the most lucrative places to play right now so of course players will want to try their hand on these tables.

I liked Janssen, quite sad it didn't work out for him, but if I was in his position I'd be seriously considering asking my agent to put the word out that I want to come home and rebuild.

He'll score shitloads of goals for them at that level. Look at how many goals Scott Sinclair has scored up there and he couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo down here.
