Don’t get me wrong I think he’s a fantastic player and is brilliant for us but one small crumble of hope is that maybe RM ( especially their fans ) don’t think he’s that elite player level and perhaps a step below so he won’t be at the top of their list.
Maybe that's why he's started really turning it on the last couple of games and running the show

It's not that simple. Any money we get will go towards replacing him, if we don't then when he leaves on a free we have a gaping hole and no money to go towards filling it unless we sell elsewhere

It just kicks the can down the road and puts us in a more difficult position both financially and progressively 18 months from now.

My concern is that happens and we actually have no choice and little leverage in the matter. If Real spend big on Hazard and say Neymar, then they will probably wait another 12 months to take Eriksen on a free. I can't see us forcing him elsewhere either especially if he can get his dream move on mega wages 12 months later. It's not as if we can threaten to phase him out of the team either as he's too good and has been nothing but professional.

Yep, with our net spending chairman letting him run out his contract gives us £0 plus whatever he’s on at the moment to play with for a replacement. Won’t even get Dack or Grealish for that.

Look at Liverpool after their best attacking player was sold, they adjusted their team accordingly and are now top of the league.

It's not the be all and end all if Eriksen leaves.

As long as we reinvest in the squad well...

Liverpool (and the rest of the 'top six') can pay better wages than us. As far as I'm aware. Which means the situation isn't the same as when they sold their man Coutinho. Look at us and the Bale money....

On a related note, the BBC are running a story today that quotes Hazard and his stated desire to become a 'legend' at Chelsea 'like Frank the Tory, Drogba and John the scientifically proven racist Terry'. Maybe.

So all we need to do is find the top single season goal scorer of all time, then a world class defender, and spend 100 mil on 2 additional midfielders... Shouldn't be too hard.

Oh and a 60mil GK, forgot about that.

I assume you would have been happy for Levy to have sold Eriksen last summer so as to maximise what he could get for him ? Have you thought that Eriksen has a say in all this and can refuse to be transferred and then let his contract run out and there is nothing Levy can do about it.

I call bullshit for the fans so as to not disrupt the rest of their season.

He said he wants to "be" a legend like them. Small nitpick but "become" sounds like he wants to stay for a while. "Be" sounds like he wants to be remembered fondly. Journalists often twist it slighlt to make it more interesting.

Put it this way - if Poch said right now he wants to become a legend like Bill Nicholson we would all have our cocks in our hands right now and maybe each others too

I think players say stuff but we just nitpick and read too much into the nuances etc. Hopefully Hazard fucks off to Real and we keep whats his face Eriksen

Yes and Coco and Jan (?) too but they all took time to come good. We need like for like (as in quality now) and that'll be hard to come by on our wage structure.

You have noticed a change in our wage structure recently? We now offer similar wages to byern munich for example.

While we offer better wages, we still don't have the same pull of an elite club to be honest there isn't much we can do about that in the short term.

Read that Eriksen is our leading PL scorer from outside the area (18). Is that correct? I’d love to know Bale and Hoddle’s stat.

Of course he can, it was just a response to a response about why letting him run his contract could be seen as a positive thing, when it wouldn't be.

Call me a cynic but I'm not sure Hoddle ever played in the PL for us......
