The more I think about it the odder it seems they didn't even glance in Steve Bruce's direction.

He would've made more sense than Solkjaer to be honest. Neither of them is a great solution but out of the two of them at least Bruce has years of experience at PL management. Solskjaer has a few days of experience overseeing a complete implosion of Cardiff and then a few years managing in some backwater in the middle of nowhere in Norway.

Agreed. I said something similar to a United supporter and the response i got back was something along the lines of "If we were going to sign Bruce we may as well just put up the cash and get Big Sam." and then said something about how Bruce wouldn't play the attacking football that everyone wants to see.

When i told him that Big Sam would probably be a something that United would benefit from for the rest of the season i got some response of how "we're bigger than that"

Neville's opinions and write ups on sky are really starting to piss me off lately. He talks a big talk for someone who failed miserably in his first season as a manager.

He released an article on Poch being the perfect candidate to take over from Mourinho barely even a few hours after he was sacked. This article has been used on many other sports sites as a source in regards to Poch leaving us for United in the summer. How the fuck is Neville a reliable source? Its merely opinion yet the media took this article and ran with it.

Poch may be the best candidate to take over at United, but to write up an article basically pushing United's agenda is completely out of order and shows a lack of respect for Mourinho and what he did at United, as well as a lack of respect for Spurs. Don't even get me started on the article he wrote about Pogba's tweet.

He doesn't have the skillset to be a decent pundit, always pushing his personal opinions around and not really looking at the facts. So I doubt his managerial career will take off any time soon. Can't wait for the day we can go back to worrying about the football and not the soap opera the PL is slowly turning into.

Why shouldn’t he write an article about who he thinks would be best to take over at United?

Far too many people on here get awfully precious about journos and pundits voicing their opinion. I know it’s shit that united want Poch, and none of us want this to be happening.

Pundits talking about it isn’t going to make it more or less likely to happen.

Honstly think Utd will get worse this season. They'll obviously be more attacking without Mourinho, but their defenders are their worst players and any team from any part of the league could have their day against them like Arsenal last year

Agree. He's paid by sky to offer his opinion, so I don't understand the outcry when he does exactly that. Also it's pretty generally accepted by everyone, including Spurs fans, that Poch is one of the best managers in the league, so why is the suggestion that he'd be a good candidate for one of the top jobs in said league such an outrageous thing to say? It's just common sense isn't it?

I’m not so sure, United shouldn’t be anywhere near as bad as they are performing. They’ve got some very good players, especially in the attacking third. Maureen has been making a pigs ear of that team. They have defensive issues, yes, but I think that’s mainly because he’s been chopping and changing the defence every other game.

Waded through some of the most delusional ill thought out fanboy crap via the ol' Red Cafe to give you how your average united fan is believing and feeling.

Can't see him wanting to stay at spurs much longer. Had they spent some money he could feasibly have been challenging for the league this season. He needs to be rewarded for his quality by actually having a chance to win the big trophies.
You'd think of all fanbases that United would know that throwing a shit tonne of cash at a problem doesnt gurantee a solution.

he'd be enticed by the right opportunity (united) though. What's going on at Spurs is a bit unfair on him imo.
These random United fans know what Poch wants better than us and Poch himself.:asshat:

Pochettino is the man we need to rebuild this club. If there's a chance we could buy him out of his contract, I'd say it's well worth it.

He'll be our next manager, I'm absolutely convinced.Edit: Not arrogant btw, I just genuinely think that Paul Mitchell will come in and Pochetinno will be next. Don't want to start a fight with the Spurs fans.
What a stupid git!

I read it'll cost 31m to get him out of Spurs which is peanuts in modern football.

Just saw his presser. He'll be here next season. Apologies if people expected Poch to have said "come get me" after my comment. It was my reading of his demeanour and the general situation.
We got a mind reader and a body language expert here.

On a purely football level I would suspect that Pochettino would be very, very tempted at making the switch. There is no doubt that it would be a step up for him, even considering the good moment that Spurs are in right now.
Does this twat even watch football? What a load of rubbish.

If Woodward is serious he just needs to approach Levy in a respectable way none of this tapping up business, just make him a good offer he can't say no to. We all know Levy loves money. Just put the cash to let him know we're not playing games.
Yup we all know the hebrew man's weakness. That's why his constantly short sighted the club in favour of his personally greed. Oh wait it's the exact opposite and he's always put the clubs long term success at the for front.

I know it has been a few years with some crap seasons, but people really underestimate what the name of Manchester United still means, there is every bit of chance that we get Poch if we really want him, easy as that, whether some on here want to admit it or not.
They really are turning into Liverpool. Big big club.

So. Will he bring Harry Kane with him?

Probably just Eriksen and Toby.
Pure Fantasy. :alien:
Crikey, did Pochettino leave Southampton for Spurs, or am I imagining it? The people banging on about ‘loyalty’ need a reality check. Football, like nature, has a food chain and similarly how leaving Southampton for Spurs was a career jump, Pochettino joining United from Spurs would also represent a huge promotion.
There’s only two jobs bigger than United in world football and Pochettino wouldn’t take one of them (Barcelona) due to his Espanyol allegiances. I can see the Madrid job being unappealing to him also based on Perez’s trigger-happy way of running the club, even for (mildly) successful managers. For Pochettino to get the bullet here, he’d have to make an absolute balls of it and I’d imagine he’d seek assurances about being given time to sort out our mess. He has a proven track record of improving teams over a 1-3 year window and he’d be given that here at a minimum. Not so much at Madrid, I think.
I really feel sorry for Manchester's history teachers. They really struggle with the details and circumstances that led to Poch leaving Southampton.

Man Utd, Real Madrid, Bayern, Barca are behemoths, they are giants of the game. When they come calling it’s very difficult to turn them down.
Yup dont even know why anybody else even bothers.

I know that financially they'll be more than fine to cope with it... but how bad would it be if Man utd just don't get any European football at all for next season?

Yes, they've got the money to throw at a lot of players and obviously have the stature, but you've got to think that missing out on any European competition will ever vastly inflate the already expensive costs and also reduce the players (and maybe managers?) they can attract.

I mean we've all had our say/thoughts about Poch with them them, but if you're a Zidane or a Blanc and are looking at Man Utd, do you honestly manage a team that (quite possibly) finishes 7th in the premier league with no European football and a bloated wage budget?

They have enough money coming in to be able to ride it out though. I think your point is valid if they missed out on europe for 3 or 4 seasons running because obviously then the commercial deals etc. would start to shrink due to reduced exposure etc. But they make such vast amounts of money through FFP-compliant means, and they have more than enough credit in the bank in terms of reputation as a club to ride it out without it being much of an issue IMO
