I’m still going to games. I can’t not go. Yeah Wembley isn’t fun but it’s better than watching us under Sherwood. I still went then and hated the laughing stock he made our club. I’m not going to suddenly stop now.
Exactly. If I was willing to attend every match George Graham managed then money permitting I’ll go to these matches at Wembley. I left London years ago and now live closer to Southampton but I’m not going to abandon my club in its hour of need, even when it means getting home from a drab midweek game at gone 1am.
Hour of need? When isn’t the club in need? I did the Sherwood time, did the Graham time, season ticket holder since the Graham days but had been going for years before that as a member. If I took time of before I’d be at the back of the queue for a season ticket. It’s been relentless trying to get the money together every year. This is my first opportunity to take a mini break, hopefully missing no more than 5 games. Maybe the club should think more about fans in their hour of need and not just think we can spend more on them every year without eventually putting other things first. We’ve had 80k+ crowds in recent seasons. Let them take up some of the slack. Like I’ve said before, the 24k season ticket holders we had made a serious commitment. To fill 62k we need some committed people too. But there is a breaking point, different for everybody. A lot of people are learning theirs.

I wasn’t having a go at you, I was just stating I’m still going to games. Friends of mine who live in Essex have given up going to evening games now because they sometimes don’t get home till 2am. Everyone’s situation is different.

What I don’t like is the attitude of some fans on social media who have started this childish petulence of not going to games as some kind of two fingers up at the club (that’s how it comes across). I would wager though that maybe they are the new season ticket holders who didn’t quite fathom the dedication being a season ticket holder can involve.

I’d say pretty much everyone on SC who has stated their reasons for not going all make sense to me. There just seems to be a noise in the wider fan base, in regards to not going to games, to not really back up the team, but instead using Wembley as an excuse to bash the club.

Yep. I made the decision before the Man City game that I’m not going back to Wembley ( unless we are there for the whole season in which case I will pick and choose after the new year).

Like you I’ve been a ST holder for nearly 20 years, been going regularly since the late 80’s and actually attended more games ( including probably half the away games) during the shit show of the 90’s.

In short, I’ve paid my fucking dues.

The club were well within its power to offer some sort of goodwill gesture to ST holders ( whether it be reduced prices at Wembley during the delay or even reinstating the cup games taken away from the ST).

Lewis is worth billions, and although the stadium is a big commitment it’s financed by long term loans and operating revenue ( which will be paid for by sponsorship and continuing operating revenues). The only money ENIC have contributed directly is the £50m to buy the land. Hardly small potatoes I grant you, but land is virtually a risk free investment.

They bought the club for £22m and when/if they sell it will be for over a billion quid. Fair play to them, and I am not suggesting they have been bad for the club or wish to open up another ENIC debate.

However, my point is they could easily have reduced prices and shown good will to ST holders. They simply chose not to. Well I simply choose not to go to Wembley anymore.

Edit : if I went with mates and had a pre/post match drink it might be different. I don’t though. I have a young child and I go with my Dad and our match day is : go to the game, watch the game, go home.

I’m a senior ST holder and I go to most games even at wembley but I missed the southampton game. The trudge up Olympic Way on a cold wet winter evening was just too much for an old man like myself. My decision to miss the evening game had nothing to do with being angry with the club or dislike of playing at wembley while the new ground is being built.

I think under these circumstances the club should cut ticket prices to entice more people to attend these kind of matches. For the Southampton match the best seats were upwards of £50 - why not cut them to £35 and the lesser seats to £20 to give people more of an incentive to go?

I guess because it’s always harder to then raise prices again, and they don’t give two flying jobbies about the atmosphere at Wembley.

I think the howls about this season's ST prices confirms that people don't respond well when you hold prices for a couple of seasons before raising them rather than steadily raising them each year.

last season when we had Wembley the action to get more than the normal 50k for extra events was done in the build up to the season. we never asked for that this season as we was meant to be at the NWHL, and due to the uncertainty of when we will return or even due to reasons because we had it last season the locals didn't want it again.

so at the moment every match if we sold all would be 12k down on what was expected. because of the problems every home game 42k guaranteed money is no longer guaranteed, 8k premium members money in not guaranteed. we are also paying quite a lot of staff now double their wages compared to last season, we are paying a weekly rent to Wembley, the building costs went up massively, and many want the club to give big discounts to make even bigger loses because it's harder to get to, lacks atmosphere or because they have the hump because they once sat in the cheapest seats in the old WHL, and now have to pay the same as the West Stand having been paying for all the seasons ST's have been in place.

the annoying about it all is that the only things the club are at fault for are 1. not freezing the West Stand prices providing you sat in a similar area to the old WHL, so that the hike on the East wasn't so big. 2, not just use Wembley for 2 seasons and hope for permission for bigger crowds. if they had the opportunity to sell 80k tickets for a midweek match then selling them cheaper wouldn't hurt the club.

the most annoying thing though is everyone that is moaning and expecting the club to give back, and it's not even their fault

I think the howls are because people like howling. A freeze then a raise is overall cheaper than two raises, but that sort of logic gets lost when there's a chance to moan about stuff!

The good thing is that in a years time we will be nicely settled in one of the very best stadiums in the world and these sorts of worries will have been mostly forgotten.

In the good old days, there was nothing to burn - just concrete and steel.
Only the very old wooden stands could go up.
But this new ground is posh and will have office furnishing and tons of wiring.
Restaurants and kitchens and cheese rooms and plant rooms. It is combustible.

Not to come over all Danny Rose on this, but the worst thing that could happen to my mind is a plane being flown into the thing. 20,000 dead instantly, 40,000 injured most suffering from smoke inhalation too.
The stadium will be pitch black and full of thick diesel smoke. All the minimum wage marshals will have legged it - they did not sign up for this.
What happens next determines whether another 20,000 die. Your call.

True, the more likely disaster by far is a plant room catching fire in the night, and undetected it takes out a stand.

I guess it comes down to whether insurance companies will take on the risk and at what price.

Diesel Planes? :stop:

Exactly the same here. It's the trip that is is the problem. It's not only long, but it's knackering unless you're in good health. It takes nearly as long to get to WHL from where I live, but the trip consists of walking 2 minutes to the nearest bus stop, getting on a 259 bus and getting off at the stadium. I can read the previews, check the team, make a couple of posts here and relax.

Wembley as a stadium isn't ideal, but we collectively overcame that last season when the big matches came along. I've no problem with the club, no problem with the ticket refund arrangements and little problem with Wembley. It's the hassle of getting there and back that has been keeping me away from about 1/4 of the matches this season.

Wasn’t aimed at the likes of you, you’ve got a young family to deal with, bigger priorities than spurs related expenses. But like was one of those 24k STs since the 90s, and my dad since the 70s, and when I’m there v Southampton watching a match that feels like a friendly, and one which isn’t on the box, I question the collective loyalty of our support if we can’t even muster up enough people to fill the old ground. My frustration is with the 40,000 odd tourist fans who were happy to go last season when we were perceived to be flying high (though in actuality this season we are doing better), but can’t be arsed this season. It’s the pick and choose whatever is convenient mentality that I hate, get a selfie at home to Barcelona but don’t show up for a match v Southampton that really matters given our battle for 3rd and 4th with our two biggest rivals. That’s when the team needs the proverbial 12th man.

Like I said, not aimed at you, aimed at the tourists.

If they had have priced it more accordingly, a lot more people would have turned up, imo.
CatB prices for basically a CatC game...
If the tickets were £30ish, i would have gone with a few people. I also think we would have got closer to the 50k attendance.

Not sure you've quite grasped who's no longer showing up. From the rumblings on here, it seems there are large swathes of ST holders (our most loyal fans) who have had enough of wembley and are waiting it out until NWHL is up and running.

I think the point of showing some goodwill to supporters is key here. They could take a leaf out of the book of other clubs, not least Leicester, but instead just fleece supporters. I think there is a certain arrogance from the board that perhaps will be challenged by the embarrassment of empty stands at Wembley. There are so many ways they could give something back but I guess it's not the Spurs way

As I said in an earlier post and in another post a few above this but won’t retype that one.

If they had refunded the difference from the seat in the new stadium and charged the price of last seasons seat, plus had permission to go over the 50k we would have more. People are picking and choosing because they can, at a time of year people always need a few pennies extra

That's because Tottenham is a shit hole, wait a few years when they really start to build up the surrounding infra.

It's a stadium for the future, of course its gonna look out of place.
Im not saying that it shouldnt look out of place atm. It’s supposed to as the wider project hasnt even begun yet. I was just saying that it does look out of place and a bit weird so im not sure why the DM is getting ripped.
