Tottenham Hotspur have managed to get themselves into a restrictive scenario when it comes to their foreign players and it's left the fans wondering exactly how it's happened.

It's not difficult... we can't shift them.

Not really the case though - there are only two we've tried to shift (Janssen & N'Koudou) and they wouldn't have been part of the squad anyway.
As the article points out, it's the stupid rules over homegrown/locally trained, which considers Davies & Dier to be "foreign".
Obviously having three foreign 'keepers doesn't help either.

We then go sniffing around English players and get quoted silly money for them, so don't buy them.

I don't really see it as that much of an issue at all. Its only a concern because of Foyth, but that's an issue this season. Come next year, Vorm will be gone, as will Dembele and Llorente. Maybe Toby also.

We don't even need to gamble on expensive English players. Vorm and Llorente play so few minutes, we hardly need to recruit two internationals.

Another factor is the youth system. If Skipp and Whiteman could be on the bench that would free up some space. Early for them but if we can keep developing them, maybe one day. And before everyone replies I know they're not yet ready to start but how far is Whiteman off being third keeper, or Skipp an occasional sub?

The Davies and Dier thing is ridiculous really. How can domestic players not count? They need to change that ruling as it will discourage young players from trying their hand abroad where we really should be encouraging it.
