The ITK re Dembele makes absolutely no sense to me. Shipping him overseas while we could still get a fee made sense, but to a rival in England? With no time to pick up a genuine replacement? That is a crazy move from us that I just cannot get behind.
We probably get a higher fee selling to a premiership club

Anyone getting excited about Ali Z last line - he just said they are the only CM names he's heard in the past, not that we are in any way close or that we are still looking at them now.

Rumour is the Kovacic loan freed up the cash for Chelsea to pay that stupid Kepa fee, Kovacic seems more of a pipe dream at this stage than Martial IMHO.
Will make it all the more delicious when we snatch him away from them at the very last moment. ;)

AliZ:

All i Know is that we are relaxed about Dembele, happy if he stays will nurse him through as many games as we can BUT he refused an offer from Inter, has an offer from Japan he has not accepted, don't know of any bid from PL club, which don't mean there isn't one, the player himself wants a big payday ( last contract) and knows he can't play a full season.

As an aside the only CM i have heard us linked with are Kovacic, Cellabios and Ndombele , first 2 are seen as preferred options. I am told no Zaha or Martial and Toby likely to go.

Think I should avoid SC for a bit my heart cant take this rollercoaster!

Other ITKs have hinted there was some truth in the links to Lobotka, Cook and Berge however, although there has also been some conflicting info on the prior two.

I really do hope we don't let United have Toby unless we get Martial. Fuck them, it's time to act like one of the big boys.

Regarding Dembele, I think this also shows the of tactics that Poch may be planning. I think we may see a 4-3-3 with one DM behind two with Eriksen being one and maybe even Dele the other.
Not focusing on you, just quoting yours as I actually agree with it, but this is all being discussed in the player thread as formations in the itk thread means ban stick sodomy.

I'm so confused with this 2 in 2 out movement and what it means for the team...

Taking educated guesses, based on the ITK - the two out would be Dembele and Alderweireld.
Dembele based on this mornings ITK and we've been told that there is no way back for Toby at the Club (though would be happy if that isn't that case.

However we have also been told very strongly that Janssen is all but out the door.

So that's 3.

Probably means before the window closes, so excludes the likes of Janssen and GKN who might move abroad after.

Hadn't interpreted like that - makes sense (y)

Still doesn't calm my worries over the whole picture though (second part of the post).

Dembele is a tricky one. When fit and firing he is a tremendous asset. But it's clear he can no longer do a full season. If used sparingly, will he be as effective? Will he be match sharp when we bring him in? In his absence, might we happen upon a better system / style, almost making him redundant? Also like the guy, so wouldn't begrudge him a pension contract somewhere else.

It's a pretty simple one as far as Dembele is concerned. If we replace him with someone who is better now (not potentially better) then selling is fine. If we don't, it's a pisstake.

Players better than Dembele aren't generally available. Which is why it would be a coup to keep him.
