It's near deadline day so I'm in overdrive. 01:45 and still posting stories. English press has picked up on this. A lot of people saying he's very good. JJ said CM target hadn't hit the media yet and finally a new name has arrived. Also the original account that tweeted about this is linked to the very reliable Paris United (were first to break Neymar to PSG and shit).

Stanislav Lobotka transfer: Tottenham consider late bid for £31million-rated Celta Vigo midfielder

Lobotka, 23, is a Slovakia international who only signed a new deal in February which runs until June 2023

Mauricio Pochettino is keen on Celta Viga midfielder Stanislav Lobotka.

The Tottenham boss, yet to make a signing with just four days of the transfer window remaining, has been assessing his options with Mousa Dembele keen to leave before Thursday’s deadline.

Lobotka, 23, is a Slovakia international who only signed a new deal in February which runs until June 2023.

However, he has a £31m release clause in his contract, however, and his club revealed last month that he wants to move on.

Napoli are also interested in his services.

Tottenham remain keen on Aston Villa's Jack Grealish but the north London club have been warned they will not get him on the cheap.

Not as sexy a name or well rounded as Kovacic but he is a high energy high pressing CM with a solid pass on him. On paper a good competition and rotation with Winks and has played in the DM of a 3 despite not being large in stature. Would be a huge step up for him though.

Struggle to believe he would be a "primary target" as we would have likely triggered that clause already since it's a pretty reasonable fee. Chances are he's viewed as a guy we can get in quickly if our primary target can't be sorted.

Pretty sure Lewis has got this wrong as his new release clause is supposedly £44m (but there are rumours Celta would accept less) - hopefully doesn’t mean the entire article is shit

Good write up + videos on Lobotka from a Gooner who loves him :joyful:

https://pmanalytics.Wordpress.com/2018/05/31/stanislav-lobotka-celtas-star-midfielder/

1. Purchased last summer by CV for €5m. Quickly rose from bench player to starter. Value has greatly increased.

2. Plays most commonly as the deepest midfielder in a 4-3-3

3. Pretty short at 5’7” = low center of gravity

4. Technically excellent, incredibly strong in evading/breaking through a press, and tied-2nd best dribble completion rate in La Liga

5. His play is less about directly contributing to goals and more about possession protection and keeping momentum

6a. Strength: can pick out a pass in no time, usually progressing play

6b. Con: may pass too quickly, and may play teammates into trouble

I think he'll be the one we buy so that Dier can operate as backup CB after we sell Toby. We'll probably try and get Martial in swap and when that likely doesn't happen we'll go and sign Grealish on deadline day. By sounds of it Lobotka could also get game time in the three man midfield that we're probably moving to, it's a bit damage control kind of signing though because of Wanyama and Toby sale, think I'd have preferred a different sort of CM but it makes sense.

Unlikely, the premier league tax means we’lll probably need to trigger the clause

If you want a sexy name, try Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
