The whole "brave" point is verging on a red herring by now. If Poch is genuinely happy with what he has without needing to change anything then that's fine, he's the man who's done so well. But, if there is a need, and he suggested this in interview recently, to strengthen then we'd all be disappointed if this wasn't addressed with all the resources and funds now available to us

That is the hope. If he thinks the current squad and the introduction of youth players this season will suffice, I'll support his decision. I just don't want it to be some behind the scenes power struggle which invariable leads to Poch and Levy falling out and us going back to the Tim Sherwood era *shudders*.

Can't wait for Tim Sherwood sitting on the bench against Liverpool after Poch fucks off to any club that does the transfer things

Honestly if we lose Poch at some point because of shit like this I'm done.

I'll always love Spurs but it will take me a long time to recover..

Can you not understand why people are concerned?
Yes, I have been reading about it in every thread for about a month now. Thing is, the same things are being said, just a month later and even though the same words have been uttered by many many posters it's not changing a great deal.

If Spurs end up signing no one and shifting a bunch of players that percentages of this fan base have little to no time for, then you'll probably get to see some much talked about and wished for youth products getting a shot in the main 25 - that's if we shift that dead wood.

I have no idea what the next 9 days hold or beyond but like most possibilities in life it'll be a 50/50 as to how it turns out, apocalyptic or unicorns farting rainbows.

FWIW, I honestly expect 3!!!

The political RISKS are too high!!!

Poch was given ASSURANCES

And I believe the club will have to eat humble pie

*Edited* THE RISK IF WE DO NOT COMPLY IS LOOSE POCH 12 MONTHS TIME. Don’t talk to me about his contract

PS: Please nobody come with ‘sell first’ FFS

Poch's own fault for signing the contract before the window closed like a noob. Given assurances just like avb and paulhino of all people were given assurances that bale will not be sold.

Suckers!

I think it's a bit dramatic.

No first teamers have left. The squad did pretty well last season despite injuries, and that squad has only improved with players bedding in better, and younger players improving. People are flapping because they think that our "rivals have strengthened", despite the fact that we know first hand that signing a bunch of well regarded players doesn't automatically strengthen a team.

The reality is that, as of the moment, we are absolved of all pressure. West Ham and Liverpool will be in a boiler pot, City will be under pressure to keep on as they were, Emery will be under pressure to look better than Wenger's peak decline, Chelsea might yet lose their two star Belgians and have had a circus summer.

If anything, we should be glad so far that we are once again flying under the radar - it works to our advantage. More importantly, we should feel bloody privileged that we have such a talented squad that, thus far, is not being tapped up by all and sundry.

Just because there are a few clouds, doesn't mean it's not a lovely day outside.

Pochettino is a clever man - I wouldn't take any notice of what he says in interviews, he's no Harry Redknapp - he'll say whatever he can to reveal nothing whilst politely answering the media's questions.

His contract would of been worded to allow him to walk if not being backed. That I can assure you

And if two of those signings are having to be a replacement for Alderweireld and Rose, we will hardly have strengthened and left Poch happy anyway.

So, so disappointed with the Clubs approach to this window.

Currently looking absolutely ridiculous.

My worry is the club end up playing the 'hard market', 'no value' card late on, Poch accepts but knows he'll take the inevitable job offers from Utd and Real Madrid in the next year or so a lot more seriously.

On the other hand I felt our last two windows were solid and showed commitment to Poch. Part of me still wants to believe we'll go all out for him.

I'll wait for a team to actually bid for them and it make it into the news before I worry about out goings.

This I don't understand....people keep saying three signings, but then theres so much variation on departures. Poch's answer in his press conference actually makes most sense because it should be variable.

Simply put, 3 could be perfect...or woefully short.

Still very, very bad that our manager doesn't know if we'll make signings.

Poch is not going to divulge what the club is planning. He did that last years and got burned. This year he is, in effect, saying wait and see, thereby not giving competing clubs advance notice of what we are planning.

That info from Herc summarizes and confirms pretty much everything I have been thinking.

#1) Poch dropped many hints during last season about getting players in early, taking risks, making moves, etc. People can try to spin this but it is quite obvious he was trying to force Levy's hand in transfer market and I'm pretty sure there was ITK confirming this.

#2) Poch had much interest from other teams but stayed and signed a new contract. Why? OBviously money was good but Levy made promises to him and that is likely main reason he signed. ITK has confirmed the "assurances/promises" part of that.

#3) Levy cant help himself to not pay up for players and so he doesn't. Some deals (like Sess) were bad luck in that Fulham got promoted. Some were Levy dragging his feet (Grealish). Once Poch was signed, the urgency Levy felt to get aggressive in market went away.

#4) Poch is too classy to complain directly in the media about the broken promises so far but is certainly dropping little hints about lack of transfer activity. Levy has screwed up and now has it all in his lap in terms of where Spurs go from here.

#5) If he stays cheap, Poch will leave, Spurs will also likely lose most of their stars to bigger and brighter spots, and the brand new stadium may not even be sold out in a few years. With the world cup plus injuries, the squad has the potential to be very depleted this year. if they miss out on top 4, what happens?

I hope it works out but I think this scenario is quite plausible and unfortunately I don't know if Levy will step up or not. Big 10 days up ahead.
