By your standards I guess the only players you would have approved of were Wanyama, Sissoko and Llorente from the past few years? How are those all working out?

Well funny enough Wanyama had a brilliant 1st season and has been injured since.

After his Euros I actually thought Sissoko would shine, but soon added I was wrong :ROFLMAO:

Llorente if you don’t play to someone’s strength like we did a little away to RM, then no point using them at all, but trophy wise he has won as much as any of the teams that have strengthened.

The only teams that have signed a played with any knowledge of the premier are man c, and spam. Totally different leagues, different cultures and a lot more physical.

I’ve not the time at this moment to go through individual as I’m half asleep and got to go back to bed and up early for another hospital appointment. All I do know is there are 11 days left and we should rate the window once it’s finished

Zaha is massively underrated on here. He is an amazing player. He has ridiculous ability and brings things we don't have. I for one would absolutely love to have him if can get the deal done.

He is far better than Richarlison in my opinion and has played his entire career in the premier league.

Actually some in the premier league and some in the championship.

No player is a guaranteed improvement, but it’s a pretty sure fire guarantee that you’re not going to improve if you don’t sign any.

I don't agree. You can train and motivate the players you have. But new signings give the squad a lift mentally and show ambition. Although things can go the other way....like with Moussa Sissoko. He hasn't improved the squad in any way what so ever.

Right, before we start spiralling into a never-ending debate on how other's have strengthened and we haven't, shall we try and get it back to Zaha?

Gards seemed to really play this down yesterday which was galling to say the least.

However....

Herc and Rebrab (to a degree) have since indicated that whilst it might be hard to do, it's not a completely dead deal.

Is that about right on where we're at?

Based on the Palace finance stories, I would suggest this isn't completely done until he signs with another team. Chelsea look to be keeping Hazard and very interested in Pulisic...they may just be keeping options open like us.

Let's also not forget that at one stage we were told that Martial was "off the menu" but that also seems to no longer be the case and there's still possibility for that to happen.

I think we all need to try and remember that transfers are a constantly evolving thing and that deals that look full steam ahead and can come to a crashing halt as easily as those that seem dead in the water can also suddenly spark back into life.

If we can all try and have a bit of self control in the meantime and not fully lose our collective shit then it would make for a much better final week and a half of this god forsaken transfer window.

We're ALL frustrated but let's just see what happens.

Just for the record we have strengthen, all our leading players have signed new contracts moving in line with other salaries in the league and we are building a new stadium. People should lay off Levy he's doing a fantastic job for our club.

I guarantee we will make signing before the transfer deadline

That is absolutely not strengthening but it is about having a good and up to date structure. Strengthening is about adressing squad and first team weaknesses, and we do have some major ones.

Buying Zaha wouldn't increase our chances of winning a cup by much and as far as I'm concerned City are going to win the league comfortably again so he wouldn't change our chances there by anything. Obviously adding to your squad, moving on players who aren't working out for you is something you do all the time. I'm just saying if we end up sitting out this one window it's not necessarily a disaster. What I really don't want is another Sissoko but this time he costs £50m not £30m because Levy thinks he has to appease MP or the fans. Hopefully we get or more of our targets - but if we don't I can live with it.

But Poch wanted Sissoko.

Did he though? It didn't seem that way with some quotes in his book...

I would agree.

ITK stated that.

We've had ample time to identify and sign specific targets that fufill areas in our squad that require improvement.

Who knows what the next 10 days will bring but if we end this window without executing the above it will be a monumental failure that IMO will put huge pressure on Poch.

Right then, list of alternatives it is then.

From ambitious to more realistic: O.Dembele (on loan), Leon Bailey, Jadon Sancho, Hirving Lozano, David Neres, Ademola Lookman, Ismaila Sarr, Ollie Watkins, Demari Gray, Josh King

Edited my mystery 3rd option list from yesterday slightly: O.Dembele (on loan), Christian Pulisic, Inaki Williams, Leon Bailey, Jadon Sancho, Federico Chiesa, Hirving Lozano, David Neres, Ademola Lookman, Ismaila Sarr, Ollie Watkins, Demari Gray, Josh King

Thinking about it - I can't see us being able to pull off any deals for players from Europe due to the Grealish deal hitting the rocks. We need homegrown and I can genuinely see us going in for an Ademola Lookman type as a last minute alternative if we can't get Zaha.

Ollie Watkins could also be an interesting one of us. A bit of a late bloomer, 22 years old playing for Brentford, but he had a fantastic season and Palace were actually linked with him earlier in the window as a potential Zaha replacement if he left. He plays in a very similar style to Marcus Rashford, and in my opinion, will surprise people if he got a move to the Premier League.

How much would Jadon Sancho cost now? £30-40m? Would we pay that for him? Would he want to leave Dortmund? Probably not.

God I hope we don't go in for Demari Gray or Josh King...

Can you list some of the quotes, I've not seen anything written about that?

I wouldn't know where to find them online, and can't think of them off the top of my head but it was something along the lines of:
'Daniel is telling me we can get Sissoko and thinks I'll be able to improve him. We'll see'.
