Look, we all know that some academy players have had a sniff of first team action, and whilst Yankspurs claim about Winks might be a bit wrong, it's no more daft than the notion put forward by Paolo10 that there's a "clear path to the first team" when the reality is it's more like one of those paths that Indiana Jones used to have to clamber and scrabble for dear life through with holes with spikes to fall onto, snake pits, spiders falling on heads and fucking great big boulders continually rolling their way and blocking progress.
Three years after jettisoning Mason and Bentaleb and after three years of Onomah sitting on our bench without ever having a single minute of football in CM, we end up watching fucking Sissoko trundle around our midfield like a demolition ball or Dier bore us to death. Three years of training with the first team and KWP still has to get past a bloke who can't even take a throw in or cross a ball.
The very bottom line is, we've seen one player from our academy establish any kind of place in our team, and even then it took Poch a few months to bring him back in after Sherwood Gump had already got him going. And this wouldn't be so bad if we weren't buying players like Sissoko, Aurier, Njie, Nkoudou, Moura for nearly 100m, but we are.
