Do you actually believe that? Genuine question... Seriously. We wont announce a signing as it would be over shadowed by the World cup.
I suspect it's easier to believe that than face reality.

In reading this thread you'd think it was the day before the window closes with all the overreactions taking place. There are 50 days left which is more than enough time to get our guys.
The quicker @Archibald&Crooks sees this thread the better.
Even if we signed players at the world cup, it will be a good week or two after they are out that they would then start training with us.It is more than enough time but it depends on what we want to achieve in that time. Bag a bargain? Plenty of time for that but if we want to integrate a player into the squad and get them fit enough to play Poch's system then it's pushing it.
We have agreement in place for a midfield player from abroad. I do not know when it will get announced. No major guesses needed as the name is out there causing discussions. Personally speaking; if we follow through on the agreement, as the player in question is keen, it is likely to happen at the latter stages of WC, or the end.
I suspect it's easier to believe that than face reality.
he said in a follow up message that the player comes from La LigaI wondered if it could be Tanguy Ndombele.
Do people not read stuff here?he said in a follow up message that the player comes from La Liga
I've been under the impression that we might not have any PR on signings until the kit is revealed, which afaik is not yet known. So, on that basis, I take it that we might have agreed deals, but not announced them.

Perhaps they have agreed but not signed. Im guessing. For yrs I've seen posters give reasons of that nature... Then i see other clubs announce signings. Case in point is Arsenal and Leicester with their new signings.
I dont see how the world cup would impact a signing announcement.
This is what everyone thought when we signed a deal with Nike and it still took week to announce a new signing after revealing the kit.I've been under the impression that we might not have any PR on signings until the kit is revealed, which afaik is not yet known. Uh, yeah, the World Cup is exactly why they won't announce a signing or contract. People here seem to think the niche hardcore fans that frequent this forum are Levy's motivation for waking up every day
It's time for another "This Is Not About You (or us)" reminder:
Announcements are made to fill media lulls, retain fan involvement, and drive PR and online traffic. When the club has this much fodder from the WC in what is usually a news-less time of year, the last thing they need to do is inform us Eriksen and Alli have signed new deals. From a purely marketing perspective, it would be moronic to announce anything right now.
Spurs have 12 players at the World Cup—you know, the daily event that EVERYONE is watching? This isn't the time the club needs to present some kid from the Championship with long hair and weird socks. This is the time for our players to show the world how great they are, and by association, their club.
Hard to believe, but some people weren't familiar with Harry Kane was until this week. Maybe now they might watch a game or two of his after the World Cup. Then they might go buy his shirt. Maybe they'll fly from South America to London next year just to see him in the flesh at this brand new stadium they've been reading about. That's essentially how I became a fan over a decade ago, and now look at me, wasting my time on here.
Users on this forum already have shirts, go to games (some at least), follow THFC on twitter, and watch every damn video the club posts. Levy already has us in his pocket and doesn't need anything more than to not seriously piss us off. And even then, most stick through it anyway. Because if you haven't noticed, he dictates this entire site's happiness and could break everyone here like a toothpick without batting an eye. And then you, years later, in some dark alley of your soul, have the fleeting memory that maybe you actually chose this path...
(In short: you aren't going to get what you want from the club right now, but to be honest you wouldn't in June with Levy at the helm during any other summer anyway.)
Around 3.2 billion people will watch the World Cup- makes sense to wait from a marketing point of view. Its weird. I understand marketing etc but to believe that the WC would take away from our announcing a signing is nonsensical.

Promise it doesn’t upset me in the slightest. You will see from my posts I’m very much “what will be will be” sort of person. I’ve seen much too much crap at Spurs. To upset you ?
We all want that player to arrive on 1st of July and for that to happen we needed to make a signing before 1st of July.We all know how much poch emphasis on players adapting to his method-we signed moura in Jan and poch still believd he wasn't ready to start games in May.what's the rush and panic, pre-season doesn't start till the 1st July, and half the squad are at the WC. even if we signed Grealish or anyone else for that matter today, what difference would it make? None is the answer because they won't be turning up to the training ground till the 1st July
