15m for grealish is good business. Levy knows villa are in the shit financially.

It's common sense bidding/negotiating.
You don't go straight in at the asking price, you start low, set a maximum and work to get someone in the middle.
No-one would bat an eyelid if it was United or Arsenal making this offer, but because it's Levy everyone rolls their eyes.

Chelsea of course will go straight in at the asking price, because that's what they do in order to try and convince players to fuck their career up.

We've been constantly told we're after 2 CM so I wonder if we consider him a Cm? because I'm getting worried that we haven't been linked with a good Cm(who in my opinion is the biggest priority).

Think that's a mixture of prices inflating massively over the last year and the fact Derby sold Will Hughes on the cheap. Think he had a bad record with injuries and Derby thought'd they'd cash in (to a lesser Premier League side). Had we been interested, his price would have probably exceeded the £10m mark?
He tore his ACL if I remember but came back and played a full season before he was sold. I've got no doubt there is a price hike when a top 6 club come calling. 20 mil would also, if my research is correct, be the record all time fee for a Championship player (I'm excluding relegated players who haven't actually played a game in the championship).

On the villa site it said the club was running up a debt of £5m per month! They have to get rid of that quick. £15-20m could keep them afloat whilst they find extra buoyancy.

I'm not confident once we start bidding openly and it's leaked to the press. Our successful transfers had just been announced.

Grealish would be a great signing imo he fits our style of play and would cover creative and attacking positions.

Think we'd all rather Martial but the truth is United won't sell and we can get Grealish for dirt cheap and he's English so it's a win/win for the club.

My reading is that Zaha (if Palace are in financial trouble) and Pulisic (if we can get him out of Dortmund for less than a King's ransom) are the top alternatives to Martial as the pacy AM.

I believe Grealish is seen as the Eriksen understudy, with Poch also considering him as a Barkley (minus the fucked hamstring) type, with the ability to receive the ball under pressure, turn, beat a man and start attacks going.

In other words, Poch will look to develop him as an English Dembele, especially if we switch to a 3 man central midfield with Dier or Wanyama holding, and Eriksen & Dele as first choice CMs. This may or may not be successful. But having watched a fair bit of Villa on TV, looking to see how Onomah was developing, Grealish has genuine class and can keep possession in tight situations.

Just because we haven't been linked with a player(s) doesn't mean we're not after players not mentioned. (Under the radar n' all that)

You could well be right sir.
And I agree about Grealish keeping possession very well that is the one aspect of his game that's stuck with me. Im still concerned about trying to replace Dembele I've never seen anybody come close to how he is with the ball.

I think Grealish will surprise many people if we sign him - he's matured since he debuted for Villa and is now much more of a central midfielder.

Think along the lines Jack Wilshere (hate using this comparison, but it's a fair one) - he was also considered a 'number 10' when he broke through at the goons.

There will be nothing secret about what is bid. His agent will be straight onto Chelsea (or whoever) to see if they want to offer more than us. It's only the fans who don't know wtf is going on.
