Agreed. Maddison had 14 goals and 8 assists in the championship last year, Grealish 3 goals and 6 assists. Whilst that's not the whole story, and it sounds like Grealish has progressed, I think Maddison is a step up in quality.

I'm not so sure. Maddison is a good player, but looks very slow and weak to me. A bit like Tom Carroll, I'm not overly convinced that he's that good on the ball to make up for his physical weaknesses.

Grealish just looks that little bit more dynamic to me.

Maddison played twice as much as Grealish last season tbf.
yeh, Grealish needs to improve his end product but its important to note that he only really got going sometime after Maddison. Personally I'd prefer Maddison, unreal talent. But wouldn't say no to either.

If he can handle the physicality of the Championship, he can handle the premier league. Normally its the technical side of the game that players get found out when stepping up.

Look at someone like Will Hughes, often on the bench for Derby the season before, but technically very good, but not physically imposing comes to Watford and by the end of the season he is contributing probably more than he did in the Championship post injury. You tend to see more of the ball in a premier league midfield than in the championship, were the midfield often gets bipassed, technical players can often thrive when taking the step up.

What a bunch of George Grahams: I dont like him 'cos he wears his socks low.

So i'm guessing you all revelled in the departure of Ginola...

He reminds me a little of Chris Waddle. With Poch's record with English players I think it would be a worthy punt..but then again should we be aiming higher this window..

We don't need Grealish, he's not as good as what we already have. If we're going to challenge for the title we need players who will make an immediate impact.

Yeah, honestly I can't see a player coming into this team form the Championship and really making any sort of impact. I know Dele did it but realistically this squad is too good now for that sort of jump. We're seeing it with how hard it is for youth players to get in and it would be the same for someone of Grealish's level. We should be aiming higher.

With Demebele going we're losing the last CM who could actually hurt the opposition. WInks is fantastic but has a long way to go and the evidence is that he's quite brittle. Whoever we choose needs to be a ball player and be able to cope with the physical demands of Poch system. I don't think Madison has the power to contribute but Grealish looks better built.
Saying we can't pick up someone from the championship is wrong. People say the same thing about the Scottish Prem (victor and Van Dyke) and the italian (Savic) and the championship has some great players in it this year.
Also getting a "higher level" player as opposed to a talented youngster who Poch can mould is also, imo, forgetting what made us the very uniquely strong proposition we are. We may see a spend of £100m this year but it is still peanuts to what ManU and Liverpool will spend.
Grealish is typical of the kind of player that got us where we are today. If Poch likes him, I'm all for it

I honestly don't know much about him off the pitch, I just see him with his socks and think he looks like a bit of a bellend (like Tom Davies at Everton).

I liked Davis first season thought he was good, Happy with Grealish and Maddison, get rid of Sissko, if Demeble is going if we sign a quality player I think signing another young prospect would make sense.

Thats who he reminds me of too, agree we should be aiming higher to im,prove the first team but we also need to look at squad depth and english contingent.

I have been on a scouting/coaching course this weekend and we spent a lot of time focusing on Grealish and his qualities. He will become a superb player I'm sure and I think he'd be a good signing for us. However I see him moving to someone like Leicester first.

If we could get the price down with some loans to help them get promotion then he'd be worth a shot but don't see us paying over the top for him.

How would he get any playing time over Eriksen, Lamela, Dele, Lucas or Son?

He plays deeper and dictates things doesn't he?
I thought he was an attacking mid/wing player. I haven't seen him play, I would just be shocked if he went from Aston Villa to jumping ahead of these 5 guys.

Think he's improved massively this season. He was always talented but it seems like something has clicked, I thought he was best player on pitch in final. I think if he gets the right move he could easily kick on and improve dramatically.

However, I don't want us to sign him. This summer needs to be quality over quantity and I don't think right now he's good enough for us. We shouldn't be splitting money across multiple deals, we need to be spending big on individuals who instantly improve the team or rotation options.

Don’t think poch would turn down his dream job at real fucking Madrid to be sweat talked by levy into signing players like grealish . Maybe when he first started his project at Tottenham but now! He knows we are 2-3 big name players away from challenging on all fronts.

Missing pieces in the jigsaw is what he wants and I’m pretty sure this time levy won’t risk losing the best manager we have had in decades !

While I agree with this we are not going to be able to improve the first XI in every position. We are not going to be able to upgrade on Eriksen but we need someone else that can play that role if he's out. That I guess is what we would be looking at from Grealish.
