I'm not Portly Samuel's biggest fan, but he seems to have been treated very shabbily by Everton's owner. Getting them 8th from where they were was a really excellent job.

I guess that's not reason enough to keep him on if the club's plans have changed, but we'll soon have lost track of all the clubs wanting to "push on to the next level" and make CL. I guess we at Spurs shouldn't be too superior about such ambitions given how long we were shite, but there's only so much room.

That said, I went to look up Everton's league finishes over the last number of years, and I'd forgotten how well Moyes did with them...higher finishes on average than I'd remembered. (Moyes was 2002-2013):

Moyes and Allerdyce both gone a month after Pardew, what a time to be alive, no doubt we'll see them again when so lames like Cardiff are floundering in March.

Silva isn't still at Watford, why should the conflict from last autumn matter at all?

Sky Sports News hinted this morning about something to do with his termination agreement with Watford.....I thought it a bit odd too. I can't see them agreeing a settlement that would block him from joining a particular club after he left....(n)(n) Unless he's on 'gardening leave' and cannot join anybody until a certain date ??....time will tell.

Allardyce reportedly made 9 million for six months work..
Nice work if you can get it.
Obscene amount of money for failure.
That's even more than Dan Levy

Seems like Leicester are also in for him.

Is there something I am not seeing? Never felt he was anything special.

Did a very good job at Hull. I know they got relegated in the end but he got them playing really well and arguably it's just because they left it too late to appoint him that they went down. He was also doing brilliantly with Watford until the whole Everton thing came up and after that it was just an impossible situation to manage because he'd completely lost the dressing room etc.

Not necessarily saying he's anything special, he's only done it in 2 half-season spells in the PL, but I can certainly see why Everton wanted him in the first place. It may not work out long term but it's not that out of the blue.

He didn't fail though, his job was to make sure they didn't get relegated, which would've cost the club a lot more than 9m.

Wasn't that great at Watford, his flaws were exposed a bit - whilst he likes his teams playing attacking football the defensive side has a massive question mark over it.

Very much Roberto Martinez than Mauricio Pochettino at the moment.

He got paid off on his contract hence getting £9m And he did what he had to do so he succeeded.

I wouldn't feel sorry for Allardyce- he's a man in his sixties still earning millions.

I could see Leicester going for Dyche if Puel leaves/gets sacked.

I can see why they'd want him but I don't see why he'd go to them. It's a bit of a sideways move to be honest. They're both similarly sized clubs with similar league positions etc. He's got the whole club molded to his own specifications at Burnley and he really runs the club whereas Leicester seems like a bit of a snakepit with a load of backstabbing players who have a direct line to the chairman and no respect for managers. It just seems like he'd not be gaining a whole lot by going to Leicester. He may as well stay at Burnley and see what he can do in Europe and hope that one day the likes of Everton or one of the top 6 come in for him

Not saying he's the finished product by a long stretch but until the whole Everton-fiasco Watford were being talked up by everyone as the surprise package of the season and it was all what a great job Silva was doing, only a matter of time before a big club comes calling etc.

If Silva's anyone at this point, it's neither Martinez nor Poch, but AVB.

Martinez is limited, but straight and likeable. Poch is an all-round dreamboat. But like AVB, Silva is careerist, vain and slippery. His behaviour at Watford when Everton came sniffing would be disqualifying on character if I were looking for a manager. His whole too-cool-for-school shtick reminds me of AVB too. Don't like the cut of his jib, despite initially being very impressed.

Didn't think finishing 8th was a failure. Personally... 8th is a fantastic finish to a troubled season for Everton. Still no idea why they didn't give him a chance.

The fans were against him from the moment he was appointed. He probably did enough to deserve a chance next season, but I can understand the owners getting rid of him if the fans are booing the team off every other week.

Yeah... he plays boring football. But seriously... I'll take boring over a battle for survival.

Roll of the dice imo. They spent alot last season... and most likely they will be spending again with the new manager.

Gonna be interesting to see what happens thou.
