We know Barkley wants to leave and we know Everton are settled on letting him go, eventually that will tell.
We know that we want him and we know Barkley will want to play this season leading up to the World cup

That's the stand off, I wonder who will blink first

If he is prepared to knuckle down and adapt to Poch's training methods along with an intense pressing style he could be a quality signing, just worried he might go missing in big games :unsure:
Then you play one of other talented players if Ross has an off day.

It's about squad depth just as much as first 11. Play players to their strengths and based on opponents as well as form. RB is a really good player and will add options.

Barkley has kept his own council regarding this whole situation. We've no idea whether he wants to leave. All we know is that he's yet to sign a new deal..

I think perhaps Koeman might be allowing Ross to see all the new signings coming in so the lad can appreciate what the manager is trying to build. Then he'll either want to be part of it, get his head straight and toe the line or leave. Or maybe things are that bad between them it's too late to mend and Everton are simply holding out for a high price....just hope Spurs don't do another Sissoko here and hand over a fortune for the guy.

Also Everton are aiming to be a top four team and see us as a competitor. Therefore they will not give him anytime with us prior to season ko. If this happens it will be last minutedotcom and we will pay £30m (crazy).

I reckon we'll have him signed shortly before Everton return from their pre-season tour, so Barkley won't be about to cause any disruption.

Fits with my theory all along, they want to pretty much destroy his condition as much as possible and dump him with us after the season starts when he's out of shape. Up to Ross to sort himself out so he doesn't arrive with a belly on him.

If we are really in for him, I would assume we would have given him instructions on keeping himself fit & ready. It's integration into squad & tactics that takes time not fitness. With so many English lads around integration also not a big issue.

Yeah I still think fitness is the bigger issue. Obviously he's not going to be playing for Everton so it's going to affect him if he isn't playing any games. For that reason they won't sell him until season start at the earliest. It'll probably happen on deadline day as DL will try to drive the price down again with him being out of shape. We do need to be vary wary regarding alternative choices however as I think this one could easily collapse on the final day too.

Personally I think a potentially clever way of going about the situation would be to offer some first season bonuses to Everton. So for instance if he's plays X amount of minutes, gets X amount of assists or goals in his first season then they'd be due an additional payment. That would encourage them to sell him in time for pre-season I think, knowing that he's likely to meet that criteria if he's fit and integrated into the squad. We'd also be more inclined to pay a bit more for someone who we know has performed well.

Sounds a bit like what Levy does!

Which Koeman said three months ago he could sign if he wants to stay, he didn't, that's good enough for me.

If the papers are remotely accurate that Everton are holding out for £50m, then Kenwright would need to rejoin reality before meaningful negotiations can begin.

It wouldn't surprise me if he's being irrational over a local academy lad.

He cried to his Mum down the phone in front of Sir Alex when they sold Rooney, and he's been fighting to keep Barkley even though Koeman clearly wants rid.

I quite like him but like Jeremy Peace I think he's overplaying his hand, and that will cost them.

...or Barkley. Peace basically ruined Berahinho's career to make his 'point'.

I think it is Swansea that are holding things up.

Everton wants Siguardsson;
Tottenham wants Barkley;
Swansea wants £50m.

I think the final price for Siguardsson will be the final price that Spurs will have to pay for Barkley.

Once Swansea come down from their valuation. Then this deal may progress.

If Barkley had a longer contract maybe. But his price is crashing the longer they hold out.

That also had occurred to me.

Swansea have reportedly turned down £42m though, obviously we won't pay that.

Reality hasn't kicked in yet as Everton are still holding out for someone like Arsenal to come in and get a bidding war going.

They're also leaking to the Liverpool echo referencing Walker's fee. Walker has 4 years on his contract, Sigg has 3 years.

Another factor at play here is as much as we want Barkley in early, Koeman will want Sigg in also.

Sigg will be a starter from the off for them so will hurt them more if both deals go through August 31st.

I can see this one fizzling out at the last minute. Can't say I'm particularly bothered by that but hope we have a few more irons in the fire.

Quite possibly. The petty twat in me would like to see us quietly walk away from this and pick up another AM under the radar; that would fuck them up for a bit
