I hope this doesn't mirror what happened last season. When we went for Zaha, looking for the best deal and ended up paying more for Sissoko.

Heaven forbid if we fail to get Barkley, who we end up with.....

The Spammers have already beaten us to Snodgrass :) They are believed to be prepared to sell him though :)

Interesting reading on Everton forum discussing his nightlife, shagging everything in sight, getting knocked out in a bar, threatened by gangsters on social media if he leaves and so on. Clearly has some baggage and hopefully a move to the sleepy town of London will help him settle down.

He's split opinion down the middle with Everton fans too. Some are desperate to see him sign a new contract and can't fault him, others can't see anything in him. Bit like on here really.

Tottenham want Ross Barkley transfer done before they leave on US tour — though at only HALF Everton's valuation

The £50m-rated midfielder is Spurs' No1 target but they won't go above £30m as he is entering the last year of his contract

Tottenham will try to clinch Ross Barkley’s signing before leaving for their pre-season tour of the USA this week.

But they have told Everton chiefs they will not pay anywhere near their £50million valuation.

Having just squeezed £54m from Manchester City for full-back Kyle Walker , Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has turned his attention to want-away Everton star Barkley.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Levy Barkley is his number one summer target, but with the 23-year-old in the last season of his contract Levy won’t splash out a huge fee. He values the midfielder between £25m and £30m.

Their net spend is still modest after selling Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United for £75m, but chairman Bill Kenwright plans to test Tottenham’s determination by holding out for his full valuation.

That will leave Barkley in limbo and Pochettino frustrated after wanting the deal done before Spurs travel to the States on Wednesday.

hmmm it would tie in with what JJ has been saying I guess.

That is alot of benjamins for a player in the last year of his contract though.

Another berahino style chase all day long imo

Only thing I can see going in our favour is they have potentially replaced him with the Klaassen and Rooney signings already. Let alone Gylfi. Plus Peace massively ballsed up due to his stubbornness, not sure kenwright would do the same

I just can't see them thinking £50m with a year left is realistic, even in the current market.

I think personally Everton will eventually sell Barkley to a fee of around £22m-26m or plus add ons.

Mainly because all season Koemen has suggested Barkley will leave and would much rather cash in on him now the leave for free. Barkley himself would want to leave and I feel we are the perfect club for Ross. If Pochettino wants him I believe we will get him... And hope so!

Barkley would excel at Spurs especially under the guidance of Poch and also playing alongside his English compatriots in Alli and Kane etc would make him play at a very good level. He has all the attributes you would want in a footballer. So technical, quick, two footed and very quick thinking with the ball. Always wants to go forward, tricky on the ball and a good all round passer and most importantly would add much needed depth in the attacking midfield area.

Really hope this deal pulls through.

I think perhaps Koeman might be allowing Ross to see all the new signings coming in so the lad can appreciate what the manager is trying to build. Then he'll either want to be part of it, get his head straight and toe the line or leave. Or maybe things are that bad between them it's too late to mend and Everton are simply holding out for a high price....just hope Spurs don't do another Sissoko here and hand over a fortune for the guy.

If he is prepared to knuckle down and adapt to Poch's training methods along with an intense pressing style he could be a quality signing, just worried he might go missing in big games
