Bale had already done that under Redknapp. Bale did it himself.
Bale would have achieved what he did with or without AVB. Same with all the very best players.Bale under Redknapp and Bale under AVB wasn't the same player. AVB pushed him up a level.

Ronaldo under Ferguson and Ronaldo under Pellegrini wasn't the same player. 26 La Liga goals in 28 games.Bale under Redknapp and Bale under AVB wasn't the same player. AVB pushed him up a level.

Was Manuel Pellegrini responsible for Ronaldo, kaka, Xabi Alonso and Benzemas success?
Now you're talking nonsense. Ronaldo improved immeasurably from the world class one in his final season at United. Xabi Alonso improved as well. Players get better as they reach their peak years. These players didn't go up a level under Pellegrini though. This isn't a case of Bale being world class and just continued to be world class under AVB. He was a good player who became world class under the guidance of AVB.
We have a winner and you can replace the first word with dislike if that helps.Liked him when he was one of us, not bothered now.
You make a decent set of points. But I always got the feeling that despite the player losses above, we actually had a decent team that with the right coach could have achieved more. You're right though - we shouldn't underestimate what he did achieve.Andre was a very decent manager for us. Doesn't deserve to be slated, he was likeable and.at least played football with a plan.
Highest point total in Prem for us..I liked him. Had he got the players he wanted which wasn't that outrageous. Willian and Mouthino in particular we may have seen something different.
We have to remember he lost King, Modric and VDV out of the team right before he came.
I prefer Maurice, but Andre was by no means a failure in my eyes.
The Europa cup, we lost on penalties to Basel. The only other manager to get us to quarter final stage in the last 22 years was Jol.Quarter final of what??
Fuck 72 points because it was meaningless ultimately.
Fuck 72 points because that season was the Gareth Bale show. He was epic and single handedly won ua point after point after point.
Fuck 72 points because all it did was ensure everyone saw it was down to Bale and he left instead of AVB.
Honestly any manager that didn't rely on Bale would have been a complete incompetent human being. To me a bigger indication of his true time at the club was the total capitulation and cowardly display the majority of the time that we played one of the big boys. I was left embarassed by the club so many times during his time, and he acted like a spineless prat who never wanted to take responsibility for his and the teams shortcomings. My dear, we go in circle, don't we. Yes, yes yes! YES! AVB had BALE. I admit it he did! We saw it with our own eyes. But every great manager has a trustworthy striker every season of accomplishment.
GUESS WHAT? That's part of the manager's job. Part of his duties is to pinpoint a goalscoring player in the squad. That's management 101. Every single one of you couch potatoes sitting with your lap top and firing up a football management simulator, you work your butt off finding that trustworthy, goal scoring player. Why? That's what you have to do. It's fun. And it's smart.
Sherwood had Adebayor, Pochettino has Kane, Redknapp had Adebayor.
Any manager of any consequence always has a stand-out goals scorer. To use it against them is the same as saying "Of course Turner could paint a painting, but it wasn't his own accomplishment, he had coloured paint."
I think what speaks volumes is even in the the year we finished 5th it was still the most tedious football to watch. Similar to Man Utd under LVG with ridiculous possession stats but the passes were always sideways and the Roy Keane memory of Fergies teamtalk was still relevant to the top teams. "Lads it's Tottenham".Honestly any manager that didn't rely on Bale would have been a complete incompetent human being. To me a bigger indication of his true time at the club was the total capitulation and cowardly display the majority of the time that we played one of the big boys. I only enjoyed 2 games during his entire spell, 3-2 at West Ham and 2-1 Arsenal at the Lane. He brought me very little pleasure, but I hold no grudge against him as the whole club was at fault during this period. What does bother me are the revisionists who try to tell me that this time wasnt as shitty as what it was, which is complete bollocks.

As for the rest of your post, Kaz's post debunks the myth that everything was down to Bale.
I know, I am not belittling that achievement, so what's your point?Redknapp got us to the quarter final of the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.
You think we're too good for that competition?Lauding a manager for getting to the quarter final of the Europa League, Good Lord, I've heard it all now
