You've got to say that Bony is probably worth £20m-£25m? So really, if we sell..

Chiriches-£8m
Naughton-£5m
Dembele or Paulinho-£10m-£15m

=£23m - £28m

We can buy this machine without even scratching the first team?

It is not a case of transfer fee's holding us back, it's the wage bill. There is some money available to spend and has been for ages, but the squad is far to bloated and wages are at the maximum. Shift a few on and we can bring some in simple as that. The fact we have to move players on though, will probably end up showing very little in terms of Net spend . We will only get 2-3 in but would like 5-6 moved on in January alone.

@TrickyVilla - would you mind if this sort of general comment got posted in the RO? Really useful info that probably needs a wider audience.

Really impressed by Bony at the weekend. His movement and awareness of space in the box was first class and he took his goal well not needing to blast it but calmly stroking it into the net.

Would like to see how he would play with Eriksen sitting behind slotting balls through the channels.

Regarding wages we can do away with one CB or get rid of two and bring in another, so you'd think there would be a decent wages from that and a couple of excess midfielders.

Adebayor is the main issue here as he's on over £100k but I can't see us shifting him anytime soon.

Unfortunately if wages are the problem I don't see too much business being done as it will be difficult to get all of a CB, 2 CMs and Adebayor out in one month.

I can see one player coming in with two out personally. For the player who comes in it depends on what position Poch wants to prioritise, and as for the outs it'll be one or two of Capoue, Dembele, Chiriches, Kaboul, Paulinho, Adebayor you'd suspect.

Re: the wage bill. It's another reason why using the promising youth as fringe first team depth can be really beneficial to us. Not only does it allow for us to give valuable match minutes in the correct situations to the youngsters, but it also allows us to not pay 50-60k in wages to a player that doesn't make the matchday squad.

There is no way Bony is 26, He looks 30ish to me.

To be fair, Christian doesn't look like he's only a month older than Lamela!

I like Bony, but for the expected cost I'd rather not end up in a "Should have bought Benteke. Again!" situation.

Bony only scored because the ball rebounded off fazio. If he hadn't have been there the ball to have hit the corner post.

Moneys been available for ages? Sorry, but the business we've been doing refutes that. The squad was too bloated in the summer too and yet, baldy purchased 6 players.

In fairness, we did loan, sell or have players with their contracts expire to accommodate those "new wages." Sandro, Gomes, Siggy, Livermore, Dawson, Fryers and Holtby all account for a decent amount of money for a strict wage bill. I also highly doubt the players we brought in commanded very big contracts considering the clubs they came from.

And Defoe, I expect.

We probably flush £200k a week too (nearly £1m a month) away on our two 'experienced' forwards who seem to struggle to turn up - either physically, or mentally.

Yeah they probably dont, but i'd reckon the wage bill now is probably similar to 2011 or 2012. I believe the wage bill last year was likely a lot bigger than anyone would have thought. But i was saying that the business we've been doing, while is sort of a clear out of the wage bill, is not exactly clearing out an already bloated squad and also doesnt signal that we have cash to burn.

Speakin of Fryers, that guys been lost since he went to Palace. He's still around?

He's playing a whole 4 minutes (240 seconds) for Palace in the league.

Had a couple of CC games though I think. Don't know why, doesn't seem to be injured

We also got rid of quite a few, hardly refutes anything.

This is why I don't think there will be many ins. We always want top dollar for our players and so it will go towards the end of the window before they go. Getting really good players in then is impossible in January as clubs don't want to sell their best players in the last days without replacements.
