But he's very good at using power point to explain his philosophy. It impressed (admittedly including me) a lot of people on here.

I'm really surprised at how poor his communication skills are from what I've seen and heard on tv. I'm beginning to think "king's new clothes".

he has had a pretty nice ride, much like Mourinho really. Also since he's 63 years old I can't imagine he will be up for much of a rebuild

I disagree about Mourinho. Porto winning the CL was incredible. Yes he had a lot of money at Chelsea but plenty have failed. Inter were the peak of their powers when he left and then we're shit.

Luke Shaw is getting a caning for his fitness, but how can it be so bad?

He'd just come off the back of a great season with Southampton, his own form was excellent in a high-tempo, pressing side. He managed to get up and down the wing easily enough. Then he went to the World Cup and then straight to United.

How has his fitness become an issue all of a sudden?

fair enough with porto but he has been handed pretty much everything else, loads of money with chelsea (obviously good enough to spend it well unlike the other managers) and an already great squad at the others

Man utd will get back into the top 4, it's not a matter of if it's a matter of when.
Once they get their shit together, game over. The top 4 is going to be nailed on each season.

It's an excuse because LVG doesn't rate him maybe?

How will it be nailed on each season? Even if us and Evertom get left behind that leaves:

City, Chelsea, United, Liverpool and Arsenal who will all expect to qualify for the Champs League and who will all have the resources to spend £100m whenever needed to recruit the best players.

Every time one team misses out it will leave them unstable as the manager will be under pressure (if he survives) and that in turn opens the door for us and Everton to challenge the Top 4 in the event that one of them has a bad season like Liverpool in 2010, Chelsea in 2012 and United in 2014.

To say that the Top 4 will be nailed on each season is, frankly, a stupid statement.

Tbf, he does look like he had one too many kebabs at his vacation

Or.. LVG does not rate him, in which case why buy him? He sanctioned it in the first place, no?

Agree he looks like he has put on ALOT of wieght over the close season. I just hope him and Lallana have a bit more sence than the likes of Bent and Bentley.

United are a way richer club than Liverpool, Liverpool cannot go out and spend 90 million on two players.
Arsenal 16 years qualifying consistently and Chelsea have had one blip in 12 years and even when the did they won the competition and since Man City qualifed they haven't been out of it. So you're looking at a slip up every 10 years or so.
It's a bit like Usain Bolt being nailed on to win every race there is always a chance he may not win the race he is in but you wouldn't to bet on it.

Porto might not have won had the linesman got this decision correct. Not even close to offside. You need some luck to win trophies and Mourinho's had his fair share along with untold millions to spend. He's not in Wenger's or Fergie's class.

How long was his vacation? I thought he turned up at United early?

When Inter knocked Barca out of the champions league, Barca had to travel 600 miles by coach because of the volcanic ash cloud at the time. I have always thought the result might well be different and Inter might well have been knocked out by Barca without having such a bad journey. You dont always need luck, but it helps.

It is completely unacceptable if they spend £150 million and fail to get top 4. Their net transfer spend must be ridiculous.

Christ they're playing an attacking formation today vs Burnley. 6 attackers and 4 defenders.

De Gea
Jones - Evans - Blackett
Fletcher
Valencia - Mata - Di Maria - Young
RVP - Rooney
If Utd concede first I'd fear for them although with that attack they should have bags of goals in them. It doesn't look balanced but now I've said that they'll proabably win with ease.

It's the Ozzy philosophy, at least we had Popescu who was a decent CB though, I wouldn't trust any of that back five in our line up that's for sure!
I'd just love to see Burnley get something out of the game as it'll heap even more pressure on them...
