I'd be so happy if we signed Lukaku. Scary to think how good he could get. Still fine it hard to believe we will deal with Chelsea though

Chelsea are now fully operating under FFP though, which means they need to sell in order to buy, and they REALLY need some better strikers in order to have a crack at PL and CL.

So they will need to sell Lukaku, given all the usual big name clubs are aiming a bit higher and that there is next to no money in Italy, i think they'll struggle to sell him anywhere outside of maybe 2 to 3 clubs in the world, us being one of them.

Papers seem convinced that Harry wants a job lot from us and we want Remy. Would be happy with Lukaku and Remy, all that pace and power. Would leave us overloaded so someone would have to go obviously.

It's a good point that gives me more hope but I just can't imagine him in a Spurs shirt next season. Possibly just me being my pessimistic self

I sincerely hope that we move on from the Southampton contingent if it is clear we are not willing to meet their price. I don't want to see another situation akin to AVB and the Porto lads (Moutinho/Hulk), where he wanted them and no one else and completely shut off from involvement with transfer activity as a result of not getting his players in. We can't afford to wait until mid to late August to bring in 3-4 new players. It's in Pochetinno's interest to have Baldini sign a first choice LB and LWF before the end of July. That way, he can have a cohesive team together for a series of games before we start at West Ham.

I was disappointed to read JJ's ITK that we won't be going for Ricardo Rodriguez. I'd assume it's a financial issue, but he'd be a pretty great signing for 15-20 million pounds at his age. His ability to create goals and score them would be good for an additioanl 6-9 points a season, in my opinion.

That's not quite true. According to AVB's media mouthpiece Jason Burt Soldado, Paulinho, Capoue and Lamela were all agreed targets. It was only when things started going wrong that these claims that the club hadn't signed the players he wanted emerged, along with a shopping list that we'd have had to sell Bale at least twice to fulfil.

I'll be happy if Pochettino has a very limited shopping list. If our squad could get 69 points with Tim, it should be able to do a deal better with a manager with clear tactical ideas. Shoudn't it?

Surely Rodriguez would see a move to us as a sideways one? What's in it for him?

While no doubt they will be working under FFP, I'm sure they would be prepared to perhaps take a couple of million less from a foreign team than sell to what we would like to think, is a direct rival.

Would be a great signing but will either be prohibitively expensive or more attractive offers may lie ahead for him, unfortunately.

The idea of lukaku really excites me. Yes he has faults to his game, but he is still young and learning the game. Many point out that he is not really suited with playing with his back to goal, and his link up play isn't treat. While this may be true his raw pace and power, as well as finishing would be a great asset to have. We also need to consider the impact Poch's coaching will have on him. Lambert said no one had ever really taught him how to play the lone striker role before Poch, and look at the massive improvement in his game due to that coaching! If he can have the same kind of impact on lukakus game, I am truly excited about the possibility of this. That said, I really can't see Chelsea selling to us...

I'm sure Chelsea will be only too happy to let us have Lukaku after the way we co-operated over Modders.

Right but who has the kind of money they'll want £20m+, other European leagues aren't exactly flush with money, and their is the whole race issue to consdier, Italy for example is probably a total no-no for those points alone.
