storts... when I am on COYS.. his thoughts are always on SC, now I am looking at SC there on COYS!

Some promising noises, but the fee is bloody high. I guess I am just a tight wad at heart and if I was our chairman, I wouldn't spend a penny more than £16,500,000.00 on any player

Isn't Champions League good for about £25-30m of additional income?

Say you spend £22m on Soldado with variables that can reach £30m.

You then pay him £100k/week (£5.2m/year)

If we end up getting 3-4 seasons of him banging in around 20 goals, that could really put us over the top and in my opinion makes us title challengers.

3-4 seasons = £100m on the low end of things for CL income.

-£30m if he meets the variables
-£5.2m x 4 years (£20.8m)

~ £49.2m profit off of a huge expenditure that could really be the tipping point for the club.

My only fear is that Levy has previous in backtracking. Remember the Rossi story ? Fee agreed at around 21m quid player wages agreed, everyone went to bed and in the morning Levy phoned back with a decreased offer causing the deal to fall apart.

C'mon Danny time to pull out the big one !

C. BOSCH few minutes ago finished the meeting between the President of Valencia and Franco Baldini, head coach of Tottenham. There is not a done deal for the transfer of Soldier although there has been a rapprochement of positions, because after more than two hours in the hotel Meliá Palacio de Congresos the conclusion is that in the coming hours could close the transfer. The London club bid is € 26 million fixed and Valencia remains in his 30, but negotiations are over.During Tuesday there will be new contacts in which the club hopes that effort be final for Tottenham striker and the Most Valuable Player of Valencia.
Valencia president was the first to reach the meeting in this hotel located next to the Palacio de Congresos. Half an hour later did Baldini accompanied by the player's agent, Alberto Toldrá. The meeting to study the transfer of Roberto Soldado was launched with the idea of Valencia to stand firm in cfra 30 million, because in addition to cash from the sale must be a significant amount in order to close a competitive front in the case Soldier to finally leave.
While various British media speak of a bid from Tottenham would not get the 22, the English club had been willing to take the rest with the trip of a coach and his offer is much closer to the figures that demand Valencia. The final contact may occur between the two clubs on Tuesday, after the club last Friday are open to negotiate the sale of the player.

At face value yeah but then you would also have to factor in being more attractive to shirt/stadium sponsors and potentially keeping Bale so could be worth a lot more than that...
