"Tottenham Hotspur are eager to see Lincoln City U15′s striker George Couzens for a second trial next week, the lad has already attracted the attentions of Manchester United and a Norwich City deal could also be close after the Canaries spoke to the lad and his parents this week.
On April 19th STMI broke the story that George, one of youth Guru Grant Brown’s striking protégées, was set to train United’s Trafford training centre known colloquially as Carrington. They also took a second look but have decided to monitor the lad’s development for the time being.
This has given both Norwich and Spurs the opportunity to see the lad in action. Spurs want a second trial period next week prior to offering the lad a deal. George has scored for fun at every age group within the Imps youth set-up as the young Imps claimed last season’s . Midland Youth Cup with a 3-0 win over the Spireites. He was fantastic in a youth tournament in aid of the Bradford fire with Manchester United, Spurs, Norwich keen to chat and keep tabs on him. United were the first to take him on trial at the end of last season followed by both Spurs and Norwich this.
George’s parents appear to have been impressed by the Canaries philosophy, especially the way they look after youngsters. Spurs have a great academy that also prepares young players for life, should they not make the grade. Ewen Chester now runs the scouting network for the Canaries (he followed old mate and ex-Spurs hero Hughton there last year from Birmingham) and they are very pro-active in the Mid Lincs youth Leagues at the moment. But Spurs also have an allure for the stary eyed striker who keeps his feet on the floor unless he needs to power one home with his head of course.
With no decision being made until next week Spurs will get that second look, prior to any decisions or transfer fees ( with lucrative add-ons) for the Imps. George, with the footballing world at his feet, according to the Imp Youth Gurus, will then be able to choose between bright lights and big City or a county not unlike, or indeed a million miles from, home."
